Dolor Sit Amet
Hello St Chadʼs, First of all, thank you to those who sent cards, flowers and enquiries when I was ill last year – I felt very loved and cared for. Due to my illness I was unable to organize the Shoe Box Appeal as well as in previous years, but we still managed to send 240 boxes. I would like to particularly thank those who knitted and donated items without needing to be reminded! So – this year, a new idea, from March onward I plan to have a box in church into which you can put small items. Each month we would ask for different items to be brought in so for example, small toys and games in March, soap, tooth paste & brushes in April etc. All these things are very cheap and if everyone put one item in the box each month then we should soon accumulate enough items to fill 300 shoeboxes by Christmas 2011. That may sound ambitious, but spreading it out over several months should make it more manageable. Look out in the notices for the items we are asking for each month. I know money is tight, but 20p for a pack of 4 tooth brushes should be in the range of most people whilst being a treasure to children who have very little else. Please dig deep, St Chadʼs, your small item can change the world for a destitute child.
