6 March 2019 Dear Year 7 Parents and Caregivers, Re: Parent Workshop - Supporting your son to be successful at school and in life You are invited to attend an information evening that St Bernard’s College is running in conjunction with Amanda Lecaude from Organising Students. Amanda will be sharing her knowledge and experience to ensure as parents / caregivers you are equipped with the necessary tools and strategies to support your son on their secondary school journey. Topics include: • the factors contributing to a successful transition including parent engagement • creating and supporting independence • the importance of time management and organisation and what they really mean • the home study process, environment and why planning is important • becoming an independent learner • understanding the difference between study and revision • an insight into the study cycle • dealing with distractions and procrastination • how to best liaise and communicate with the school Ensure good habits are established early in the 2019 school year and that your son has the necessary skills to maximise their potential at both school and in life. Facilitator – Amanda Lecaude Amanda is an experienced academic coach and organising expert who works closely with schools and students to ensure they are equipped with simple and effective organisational, time management and study skills, which are key to their success and enjoyment at school and in life. Amanda’s key areas of focus include working with students from Years 6-12 and in particular the transition for students between primary and secondary school. She has also authored two e-Books supporting both students and parents in taking the leap to secondary school. Amanda is passionate about educating people of all ages and is a big believer in that it is never too late to educate anyone to be better organised or to manage their time! Amanda has been working closely with the school on developing the content and lesson plans for the Pastoral Care Program for Year 7-10 students on time management, goal setting, organisation and study skills.
