Whilst Redfern is one of the last innercity suburbs to see the construction and redevelopment that comes handinhand with gentrification, it is also home to the (selfconfessed) ‘most significant contemporary multiarts centre of its kind in Australia’. Housed in the old Eveleigh Rail Works, Carriageworks defies characterisation. Expect faded industrial grandeur, perfectly articulated architectural detailing, and an artistled program.
