So many great volunteers to thank for their time and talent. Thanks to: Mike Lauck for his great storytelling; to Donna Meyer and Danielle Deutsch for the yoga/stretching classes; to SCC Nursing Programs and The National Charity League Sonoran Centennial chapter for choosing STARS as their volunteer experience; to Rio Salado Dental Hygiene students for an excellent presentation on the importance of dental health; to our wonderful Scottsdale Fire and Police Departments for safety presentation and; to Pets-on-Wheels for bringing their furry friends to our campuses. Our volunteers provide so many important benefits and improve the lives of our participants. STAFF HOLIDAY PARTY
A big thank you to our partners MEDIX for once again joyfully and generously providing STARS' staff with a holiday breakfast and gifts! A shout out to our dear friends at Church of the Valley for making sure all the staff had lovely homemade cookies for the holidays and to Thanks to Anne and Jeff Gray for providing each staff member with a holiday turkey. It was a wonderful holiday season at STARS.
STARS HOLIDAY PARTY
On December 5th STARS hosted our largest ever holiday party. Our participants and their families enjoyed an opportunity to have dinner together and dance to favorite tunes by DJ Elliot. Grateful for NCL volunteers who helped serve dinner.
After many years of planning, we combined our two Work Center sites in early January. Our Osborn Campus now houses our work center program. We repurposed two classrooms. One room is now set up for our Hospice of the Valley Contract and the second room is designated as the testing area for COX remotes. It's great to have the program in one spot and work together as a team. Please plan a visit to see the campus. We'd love to show you the improvements. Contact Dave Henderson firstname.lastname@example.org for a tour/visit.

DAVE'S CORNER Happy New Year STARS supporters! I hope your holidays were joyful and filled with friends, family, laughter and love. Last year at this time I shared my vision that STARS provide exemplary programs with measurable outcomes that focus on individualized achievement, offer supplemental support for participant families, while furthering the career development of our employees. Since then we have consolidated DTA programming at the Cholla campus, creating new options for young adults (22-35), mature adults (36-50) and seniors (50+). In addition, we are nearing completion to consolidate work center activity at the Osborn campus. This will provide CBE program participants equal access to every available job. During the year we made significant changes to our organizational structure. This resulted in internal promotions for more than a dozen staff members and created opportunities for new employees to join our team of direct support workers. Stay tuned for news of other innovations coming in the new year! On behalf of our participants and employees, I want to personally thank you for supporting STARS this past year, and I encourage you to find new ways to support us during 2020! -Dave
