Corporate Social Responsibilities Environment SP Setia continues to leverage on the ‘LiveLearnWorkPlay’ development philosophy in its international developments such as the group’s regeneration project of the iconic Battersea Power Station. It gives a wider impact to the jobs, training opportunities, new transport connections, environmental initiatives and community facilities. Battersea Power Station will deliver around 17,000 jobs upon completion. On top of that, Battersea Power Station will have its own on-site Learning Academy providing training and up-skilling opportunities so that local people are equipped to gain employment. In terms of heritage conserving, every historically important element of the Power Station has been catalogued and photographed to ensure the restoration is as precise as possible. The original brick supplier has been contacted and commissioned to re-create identical bricks for the wall repairs while the ornate glass ceiling of the Control Room and ceramic tiles of the turbine halls are being professionally repaired. The chimneys are one of the defining features of the London skyline and the two-year replacement programme will see them painstakingly dismantled and then rebuilt, using the same materials and techniques as the originals. The project builds on its innovative power generating heritage by including its own Energy Centre and creating an integrated district energy network between the variety of residential, retail, leisure and commercial uses. The Energy Centre will provide heating, hot water and cooling features and in the process saving 6000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year compared with 2010 building regs. Vapour from the Energy Centre will be exhausted via two of the four chimneys when they have been rebuilt.

Corporate Social Responsibilities Environment Parque, as a landmark project in Melbourne, integrates the built and natural environments, blending sculptural glass façade elements with one acre of lush landscaped designer gardens and extensive heritage grounds. The heritage-listed grounds feature 150-year-old elms listed on the National Trust of Australia's register of significant trees, requiring careful site coordination to ensure trees are protected throughout construction. Another SP Setia’s design philosophy which complies with the stringent standard of the BCA Green Mark Platinum Standard is Eco Sanctuary in Singapore. The development is by itself a sustainable natural ecosystem that lets you discover the magnificence of nature. Inspired by nature, the design’s concept reflects the complexity of a butterfly. The layout of the site traces the metamorphosis of the butterfly from the egg to the 'papillon‘. Other than that, the landscaping of the area is designed to integrate with the adjoining park and lead to a cycling and jogging trail. Other green features of the development include rainwater harvesting as well as drip irrigation with rain and motion sensors. EcoLakes and EcoXuan, eco-themed townships in Vietnam based on the developer’s LiveLearnWorkPlay philosophy, also emphasizes a holistic and balanced way of life. Both are fully integrated townships which are surrounded by natural landscape.

SP Setia has been an avid advocate of World Environment Day (WED) since the year 2008. The Group has commemorated the event annually with numerous exciting activities to generate awareness towards pressing environmental issues. In 2017, SP Setia collaborated with Feed Our Loved Ones (FOLO), a non-profit organization focusing on a mission to promote the value of caring for the environment through educating young students. With the theme “Teaching Children to ‘Heart’ Nature with Setia”, numerous activities were conducted to create the sense of appreciating nature amongst the young children. The event highlight – Forest To The Rescue! – saw students working together to build different water filter models using items such as soil, stones, plants, plastic bottles and small tree branches. A photography workshop was also conducted where the students were given pointers and taught techniques of capturing the essence of nature and its surrounding in pictures. SP Setia will continue on its quest to create greater awareness towards environment conservation through this yearly campaign.

SP Setia is more than just a builder. Wherever it sets its footprints, the group strives to connect its communities, creating sustainable environment that enrich lives. The SP Setia Foundation has been lending a helping hand to underprivileged Malaysians and aiding those less fortunate since 2000. The Foundation has made a great impact on the society by implementing and undertaking numerous meaningful projects and focus on the shortcoming areas of education, poverty and welfare throughout multiracial communities. The Foundation also launched the Setia Caring School Programme which aims at cultivating and promoting the idea of a “caring� society among school students, teachers and parents of underperforming schools. The programme also seeks to instil good human virtues, strong moral values and a sense of nationalism among the future leaders of our nation.

SP Setia, through the SP Setia Foundation, is proud to join forces with Star Media Group in November 2017 to launch #StandTogether, a nationwide campaign calling for the first week of April to be designated as an annual Bullying Prevention Week. The campaign was launched by Her Royal Highness Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah together with a host of celebrities who also pledged their support to the campaign. Working together with Star’s award-winning R.AGE team, the campaign also aims to mobilise volunteers to independently organize bullying prevention events/activities in their schools every first week of April.

Recently, SP Setia bagged the “Best Employer” award for the 8th time at the Aon Best Employers 2017 award ceremony. SP Setia was also recently named one of Malaysia’s Top 15 Leading Graduate Employer by GTI Media Asia and Trendence, Europe’s leading research institute. The Group is continuously reviewing its succession planning strategy to identify and develop employees with high potential in its effort to ensure sufficient talent pool within the organization at all times.

Team Setia is encouraged to attend training sessions which are included in their Key Performance Index (KPI). A comprehensive yearly training calendar focusing on various competencies such as strategic planning, property insights and business communications, technical skills and leadership development is made available to all employees at the beginning of every year to further enhance the competency of employees. SP Setia also administers the People Pulse Survey on a yearly basis, which provides valuable insights into its people issues and engagement level. Information from the survey helps the company innovate initiatives which target the core of employee issues within the organisation.

Good Customer Service Citizen Setia SP Setia’s mission to provide an overall “wow” customer experience through a strong culture of excellence has become attainable. It shows that good customer service builds trust and it matters more than price. SP Setia continues in enhancing value for its customers through various good customer service initiatives. SP Setia has launched a long-term reward and appreciation programme called Citizen Setia for its existing and new property purchasers. All Setia Privilege Program (SPP) members are entitled to enjoy the privileges offered in the Citizen Setia program. It is a platform through which Setia offers various lifestyle experiences and privileges to its valued purchasers. Previous unique Citizen Setia experiences include “Citizen Setia loves Jet Setting”; where more than 60 lucky Citizens of Setia were rewarded with yacht cruises and all-expense-paid business class trips to countries where Setia has its presence namely; Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Australia and the United Kingdom. On top of that, the holiday winners were rewarded with Canon cameras and a year-long supply of Focus Malaysia business newspaper. Recently in November 2017, Setia rewarded a group of Citizen Setia with tickets to enjoy the performance of international artiste and multiple Grammy Award winner, Ed Sheeran at his sold out ‘Live in KL 2017’ concert.

SP Setia celebrated the Lunar New Year 2017 with its communities across Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Sabah. Celebrations took place in all respective sales galleries and welcomed the public as well as residents from all walks of life. During Raya festive celebrations, SP Setia again celebrates with all the communities across Penang, Selangor and Johor in traditional yet vibrant Raya ‘Open Houses’ over the weekend. The ‘Open Houses’ featured a memorable weekend with a variety of games, performances and F&B for all. In 2017, SP Setia in collaboration with Asian Food Channel’s celebrity chef Sherson Lian celebrated the Raya festive season with an engaging cooking demo together with selected Citizen Setia and members of the media. Themed “Hati Dibuka Kasih Dikongsi”, more than 200 invited guests turned up for the event which was held at Templer Ballroom in Setia Eco Templer, Rawang.
