Corporate Responsibility As part of Corporate Responsibility, the Company plays a huge role in Corporate Social Responsibility’s sphere. Our approach is based on a two-prong strategy - Education Enhancement and Community Outreach, applicable within the communities where we operate and have our corporate presence with the aim







programmes. We reach out to offer a helping hand to communities through education-related activities and other various forms of social assistance.

Close relationships with our Customers are at the heart of our strategy. One of our key strategic pillars is putting our customers in charge of when, where and how they interact with us. As a creative placemaker, we aim to create an enjoyable experience for our customers by improving customer service across all service points and elevating their voices. The other important element to the Company’s sustainability is the Employees. We strongly believe that happy employees equate to happy customers which in turn will contribute significantly to the bottom line and the overall company’s performance, as they are intensely connected. We endeavour to continue with the employee engagement programmes in our effort to keep them happy and motivated. Among the programmes that the Company carried out in 2017 are listed below;

Corporate Responsibility Education Enhancement UEM Sunrise PINTAR School Adoption Programme was founded in 2008 under the PINTAR Foundation (“PINTAR”). Through this programme, the Company aims to help raise the academic performance of its adopted schools’ students

Currently UEM Sunrise has 14 adopted schools. The on-going education enhancement programmes being carried out are Examination Seminars and Remedial Classes. In 2017, the programmes touched the lives of approximately 2100 students.

As of 2016, the Company had 21 adopted

schools located in the Central and Southern regions of Malaysia. 10 schools were graduated in early 2017 after achieving improved overall

school rating from BAND 5 to BAND 2 and BAND 1.

UEM Sunrise organised SPM and PT3 Examination Seminars to raise the academic performance of the students to achieve the desired results. In collaboration with Berita Harian since 2008, the programme has entered its 10th year of implementation with the former providing UEM Sunrise with the professional teaching workforce as well as relevant reference and learning materials for the students. For SPM students, the focus is on Mathematics, English, Bahasa Malaysia, and History, while PT3 students focus on Mathematics, English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Science.

The Remedial Classes is a weekly tuition-like programme for UPSR candidates. It was introduced by UEM Group Berhad in 2015 and was replicated by UEM Sunrise in 2017 at its primary schools under the PINTAR School Adoption Programme.

Corporate Responsibility Community Outreach Programme UEM Sunrise has been closely engaging with Pertubuhan Kebajikan Agathians (“Agathians Shelter�) since 2015. The various forms of assistance accorded by the company to the home include facilities upgrade, education support and motivational talks.

Agathians Shelter, founded in

2003 houses 40 boys, aged between four and 19 years old, who are either orphaned, abused or abandoned by their families. Agathians Shelter provides family-based counselling, play therapy and community service with the aim to enable a child to have hope and a better future while ensuring the children receive their basic needs and education.

Corporate Responsibility Community Outreach Programme UEM Sunrise organised ‘Zaha Hadid Architects: Reimagining Architecture’ Exhibition at White Box in Publika, Kuala Lumpur as part of its commitment in providing an enriching experience for the design, architecture and cultural communities. The exhibition also honoured the late Dame Zaha Hadid and showcased Zaha Hadid Architects (“ZHA”) range of works that spans across 40 years of the firm’s architectural history. The event marked another milestone for UEM Sunrise in its efforts to developing communities and creating sustainable environments in the markets it operates. UEM Sunrise goes beyond delivering quality developments for its people as the Company strives to provide the best offerings for its stakeholders. UEM Sunrise endeavours to create opportunities for the community to access new knowledge that will go a long way in developing the softer aspects of a cultured and cohesive society.

Good Customer Service Initiatives Verdi Summer Night Party Verdi Summer Night Party was an exclusive event that celebrated more than 300 customers in a cosy and starry night ambience of Verdi Eco-dominiums’ lush Maze Garden in Cyberjaya. The guests were treated to a marvellous night with amazing tunes from various artists, including Colour of Voices, You & Me Buskers, and jazz singer, Maya Hanum. The atmosphere of the party was kept at a constant high with Malaysia’s famous emcee, LandSlyde, whose friendliness and humour left everyone in laughter. The event was filled with family-fun activity booths and various games that kept the young and young-at-heart entertained for hours. Scrumptious food from an array of hawker stalls and a Barbeque pit as well as a selection of beverages were served for all to savour. Lucky guests of the Verdi Summer Night Party walked away with attractive prizes worth more than RM10,000.

Good Customer Service Initiatives Symphony Fun Walk & Run 2017 UEM Sunrise organised the inaugural ‘Symphony Fun Walk & Run 2017’ at Symphony Hills, Cyberjaya. The objective was to promote a healthy lifestyle through fun sporting activities to new and existing customers as well as to encourage social interaction amongst the residents, owners and tenants of the Symphony Hills development with the management team of UEM Sunrise. The event received an overwhelming response with more than 600 participants, including runners from the United Kingdom, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines who joined in the 5KM Fun Walk and Run event. The first 50 finishers received a finisher medal each alongside products, vouchers, and goodie bags.

Good Customer Service Initiatives UEM Sunrise Golf Friendly The annual UEM Sunrise Golf Friendly was held in November at the Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort in Pulau Carey. The objective of the event was to incorporate sporting activities into the lifestyles of customers’ and residents of UEM Sunrise-managed properties. It was also to provide the residents and management team with a platform to interact and develop closer rapport. The event saw a total number of 40 participants who were pleased to meet up with UEM Sunrise’s representatives and elated to receive the prizes especially prepared for the tournament.


STAFF ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES High Performing Workforce Talk YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohd Fadzilah Kamsah, a well-known motivational speaker, was invited to speak at the High Performing Workforce Talk for UEM Sunrise employees of both Central and Southern regions. The three (3) series motivational programmes benefited the employees greatly. The event was well received by all attendees that highlighted the importance of infusing ethical and spiritual values into the workplace that interlink in creating a conducive environment and increased productivity.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES The White Water Rafting The White Water Rafting programme was organised at Sungai Kampar, Gopeng, Perak. With speed being essential in today’s fast-paced business world, UEM Sunrise believes that the team needs to be constantly prepared to be more active, effective and faster. Instead of sitting in a conference room, the participants which included the management team took a white water rafting trip down Sungai Kampar where they learnt new skills at one of the challenging rapids in Malaysia. The rafting experience demanded adaptation to the changing environment of continuous movement and tough challenges being the foundation of a successful organisation.









Environment Day 2017, implored us to go outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and importance and answered the call to protect the Earth. Therefore, the inaugural “Back-to-Nature” programme was conducted for all UEM Sunrise employees and their families of both Central and Southern regions. The events took place at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (“FRIM”) on 21 October and at SIREH Park, Iskandar Puteri on 16 December. It aimed at not only to acknowledge the employees for their hard work and dedication but to also provide a platform to continue cementing the spirit of togetherness amongst them.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES Titans Junior in the Office UEM Sunrise organised ‘Titans Junior in the Office’ programme in our quest to continue invigorating the employees. The children of the employees were invited to partake, and they experienced the office environment and exposed to work responsibilities.

The programme also

comprised intellectual games, designed based on age group. They were also encouraged to speak about their plans plan and discuss their future ambitions. The children were given the opportunity to visit two popular recreational theme parks in Malaysia, KidZania and LEGOLAND.
