Applications will be considered from individuals who have achieved at least Diploma level on an approved counselling training programme. PIONEER PILGRIMAGE The Down and Connor Diocesan Pioneer Council are holding their annual pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Venerable Matt Talbot on Saturday 14 April. Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Sean McDermott Street, Dublin. Transport is by coach with a cost of £20.00 each and there are various pick up points within the Connor Region. PRAYING WITH THE SCRIPTURES A Diocesan campaign to support existing prayer groups will begin in this Vicariate after Easter. Interested parishioners are invited to one of two initial meetings: Sunday 22nd April or Wednesday 25 April at 7.30pm. Specially invited are members of existing prayer groups, Ministers of the Word, members of Eucharistic Adoration group, but all are welcome. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRE-SCHOOL! St Colum’s Pre-school playgroup celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. To mark this special occasion the pre-school committee is organising a Family Fun Day to be held on Sat 9th June. In preparation, the committee is collecting photographs of the pre-school and its children from its inception in 1992 right through to the present day. If anyone has any photographs could they please leave them at the Parish Office where they will be photocopied or scanned and returned asap. In addition, the committee hopes to have stalls at the Fun Day. If anyone is interested in taking a stall to sell their arts or crafts, homemade produce etc or to display a particular skill such as professional makeup etc. please leave your name and contact details at the parish office. STELLA MARIS The Easter edition is currently being distributed to your homes. If you do not receive one please advise parish office. APOSTOLIC WORK Wish to express sincere thanks and appreciation for your support of their coffee morning and sale of March 4th. To date a grand total of £1,164 has been raised. Just think how many people in real need that you have helped. In the past financial year Portstewart Branch i.e. YOU – contributed £6480. The total from Down and Connor Diocese was £360,944 and 91% of that money was sent directly to missionary organisations. In total, 210 missionaries were helped last year. Committee Meeting: Please note the following change of date - the April meeting will now be on Tuesday 17th April at 7.30pm. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER GLOBAL VILLAGE TRIP TO ETHIOPIA 2012 A student team from the University of Ulster will be travelling to Ethiopia this summer to build houses for impoverished families, working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the world's largest poverty housing charity that builds simple, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families and volunteers. Our University of Ulster Team will be made up of Catholics and Protestants working and living together to make a difference in the lives of others. The partnership also works closely with local leprosy associations to guarantee houses for some of Africa’s most vulnerable

people. As part of their fundraising campaign this year’s Habitat team is hosting a:

STAR OF THE SEA WOMEN'S GROUP have invited Patricia Farren author of the recently published "Show me the Prision" to speak and do a short book reading about the background and motivation for her book. This will take place on Monday 16th of April in the Parish Centre at 8pm. The organisers look forward to seeing you there. ST COLUM’S DADS’ WALK A self-sponsored walk to raise funds for St. Colum's Pre-School Playgroup and St Colum's Primary School PTA has been organised. £10 per head to walk from The Anchor to The Bar Mouth and back again (approx 5 miles from bar to bar). Its happening Saturday 28th April - meeting in the Anchor at 2.30pm. It should be a great way for parents, especially the dads, to get to know one another.
