Refreshments will be served at 9.00pm A SHORT COURSE ON THE EUCHARIST Next Thursday 10th April, a week before Holy Thursday, there will be a short illustrated course on the Eucharist given in Star of the Sea church from 7.30 until 9.30pm. This would be useful for all Eucharistic Ministers, old and new, enquiring minds and parishioners wishing to learn more about this great sacrament and gift to the church. PORTSTEWART PARISH CONGRESS It is two years and a few weeks since parishioners met in our Parish Centre for what was called a Listening Event. Out of that came the Living Church Report summarising the hopes, frustrations, dreams of parishioners throughout the diocese. Then we had a Diocesan Congress last September. On Sat May 3rd we will have a Parish Congress in our Parish Centre from 11.00am until 3.30pm. If you are reading this, you are welcome. Bishop Treanor plans to be with us and the guest speaker is Jim Deeds from the Living Church office. It will be a chance to meet together to listen, talk, pray, dine and dream. Applicants should be male 35 years and older and if married should be married for at least 10 years. PALM SUNDAY Palms are blessed and given as a reminder of the joy of Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. Often people keep them throughout the year. Before next Sunday 13th April, would you bring any old palm to the church, please? We’ll keep them and burn them for next year’s Ash Wednesday. ST COLUMBANUS PILGRIMAGE TO ROME To celebrate the 1500th Anniversary of the death of St Columbanus a Year of Columbanus is being opened in Rome on 12 October 2014 with a Mass in St John Lateran, the Cathedral Church of Rome. There will also be a concert given by ‘The Priests’ and an International Meeting of countries and parishes evangelised by St Columbanus. A Pilgrimage led by Bishop Treanor will depart from Dublin from 8th – 15th October. Accommodation will be in 3 star hotels in Rome and the cost per person sharing is €995. Application forms can
