Portstewart Parish 11th March 2012 Third Sunday in Lent Readings: Sunday Cycle B Psalter: Week 3 Fr. Austin McGirr PP 7083 2534 / 07739 223295 amcgirr1947@gmail.com MASSES THIS WEEK Monday to Friday at 9.30am. Saturday 9.30am & Vigil Mass at 6.00pm. Sunday - 9.00am, 11.00am and 8.00pm. SATURDAY IS ST PATRICK’S DAY! Principal Patron of Ireland and Bishop (491). Holy Day of Obligation. Masses at 7.30pm (vigil Friday night) and 9.30am and 11.00am. From “The Liturgical Calendar for Ireland” – “St Patrick was born very probably in the early years of the fifth century in Britain. He was taken captive at the age of sixteen and brought to Ireland where he worked as a slave. His captivity had a very positive effect on his spiritual life. He escaped back home at the age of twenty-two. It was obvious to him that God was calling him to return to convert the Irish. He studied, probably in France, and returned to Ireland c 457 – 461 and made a tremendous number of converts.”  INTER-CHURCH LENTEN STUDIES each Wednesday in Lent 8.15pm.
