CHILDREN’S LITURGY Children’s Liturgy will re-commence after the summer break next Sunday 8th September for children aged 48 during 11am Mass. PIONEER ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE International Gathering Conference 2013 hosted by the Pioneer Association: ‘The Spirit That Sets Us Free – Overcoming Addiction’ at All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 on Saturday and Sunday, 28-29 September. Speakers include: Fr Peter McVerry, SJ, Campaigner for Social Justice, Fr James Harbaugh, SJ, Author of ‘A Twelve-Step Approach to the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius’, Majella Coyle, Addiction Counsellor. Plus open forum discussions, a service for healing and wholeness, lunch, dinners and evening entertainment on the Saturday provided by harpist and singer, Deirdre Seaver, and a host of traditional Irish musicians from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann. For the full itinerary and more information, please contact the Pioneer Association by email at or visit our website DRUMALIS EDUCATION PROGRAMMES Pathways Adult Faith Development Programme for the Diocese of Down & Connor at Drumalis - Enrolling now for 2013-2015 intake. The principal purpose of this programme, now in its eighth year at Drumalis in Larne, is to offer a space for reflection and discussion about Life, Faith and Ministry. The course also offers participants spiritual and theological formation, which will enable them to explore their faith with greater confidence. No academic qualifications are necessary. This two-year programme, supported by the Diocese of Down and Connor, runs from October to June each year and will be held on 9 Saturdays from 10:00 – 4:30 at Drumalis. This course is offered to men and women from all walks of life, who have completed the Pathways course or its equivalent. It is possible to do the course for validation by St Mary’s University College or for personal development only. DIOCESAN CONGRESS & SING A NEW SONG On Saturday 28th September in the Waterfront Hall, Belfast, the diocese will hold its inaugural congress. Clergy, religious and lay faithful from every parish in the diocese will gather together. It will be a chance to meet old friends and new, to pray and reflect and look to the future. The congress will end with a concert (“Sing a new Song”) headlined by world renowned The Priests. Posters for both congress and concert are in our church or online: CONGRESS

A comprehensive series of seminars and workshop sessions will be hosted by a line-up of acclaimed speakers who will discuss and debate key issues affecting the life of the Diocese. Breda O'Brien - Keynote Speaker Breda is a weekly columnist with the Irish Times, a second level teacher and frequent contributor to media debates on social, religious, ethical and educational issues. She promises to bring a realistic commentary that allows us to identify with being members of the church today and our aspirations for the future. Breda is married and has four children. Contribution Costs for the Congress are £10.00 per delegate. Mass on Saturday night in our parish – the 6.00pm vigil Mass will NOT be celebrated on Sat 28th Sept’13. PEACE 3 CROSS COMMUNITY A trip to Donegal to visit Convoy Orange Hall and Bunbeg Gaeltacht area will take place on Tuesday 17th September 9.00 am - 7.00 pm. Transport will be by bus (from Presbyterian Church Hall) and lunch is provided. If interested please give your name to Parish Office. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS September rota is now available from the Sacristy. For those who visit the sick – Safeguarding Vulnerable Adult information session for the Vicariate will be held in St Malachy’s Parish Centre, Coleraine on Wed 18th Sept 7.00 to 9.00pm. FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION All parents in the parish who wish to have their children prepared for First Holy Communion or Confirmation in 2014, but do not have the children attending St Colum’s PS are invited to get in touch with the Parish Office 7083 2534 or Sally Andrew 7083 4789 as soon as possible.
