Dear Colleague,

A very warm welcome to Thailand and St . Andrews Sathorn . We hope that this Orientation Booklet will provide you with useful information that will help make your first few weeks in Thailand as smooth as possible . It doesn’t matter how many schools or countries you have worked in previously, settling into a new country and job takes time, can be frustrating and is hard work and tiring . Realistically it will probably be half term before you start to feel completely settled and comfortable Just remember this is perfectly normal and everybody goes through this . If you’re not sure of anything just ask – somebody will know the answer. If they don’t, then you can guarantee everybody else wants to know the answer too!

St . Andrews Sathorn is a very friendly school. If you have any difficulties, don’t hesitate to ask for help

Arrival in Thailand

The latest we would like you to arrive in Bangkok is Sunday, 11th August .

All new Sathorn teachers who are not already based in Bangkok, will be provided with airport transfer and 7 free nights in the PASSA Hotel Bangkok whilst you arrange your own accommodation .

Equally, if you would prefer to fly in earlier and arrange your accommodation before the orientation, we can book you into the PASSA Hotel earlier. Please let Khun An (contact details on page 11 ) know your plans .

The orientation program outlined below is just to get you up and running . It will not cover all that you need to know but hopefully will make you feel more confident and know who to ask to find out more .

Orientation Schedule

Monday 12th August

Today is a public holiday in Thailand for Mother’s Day

Please be at Sathorn Campus for 10.00am

Please bring your passport We will use today to introduce you to our systems and campus.

10. 00 am : Arrive at Sathorn

Meet with Helen Coleman (Deputy Head) /Nikki Hsien (Assistant Head)

• Tour of School

• Introduction to school systems (emails, iSams , Pupil Asset etc . )

12 . 30 pm : Lunch

After lunch we will finalise anything left from the morning session and then the afternoon/evening will be free for you to familiarise yourself with the local community.

Introduction at St. Andrews International School Sathorn

New staff from all four St . Andrews campuses will attend the orientation introduction at our Sathorn campus on Tuesday 13 th August . Non - teaching partners are welcome to join the morning orientation program . However, it will cover educational issues and we realise this will probably not be of interest to non - teaching dependents . There will be time for a quick change at the hotel before the evening BBQ dinner.

Complete application to open SCB bank account

09:30am: Visit to nearest SCB bank branch to open an account and collect ATM cards

11:00am: Flexible afternoon – house hunting

* We will arrange for an agent to take you around to look at some of the housing available. Some of our teachers might also be on hand to show you the area they live in and help with any advice you may need.

We really want you to be happy and settled before the school year starts . We consider this time really important and will support you as much as possible .

Whole School Training Days

All returning teachers are due in school on Friday

These three days will include general introductions and preparations for the term ahead. Schedule to follow when finalised
