It's Fall Season and I'm finally getting around to implementing last year's New Year resolution about getting rid of this pot belly that - I swear - just appeared suddenly and without warning a couple years ago. Well, quickly anyway. Other than the fact that noticing that fewer and fewer of your old clothes fit anymore, you know you have a pot belly when you pinch the skin on your abdomen, just under the ribs, and don't come up with very much loose flesh. When you push on your tummy with your finger it feels firm. Some people call this extra baggage a "beer belly" or an "apple shape." At the time I didn't think a little pot belly a big deal. Eat a little less - do a little more exercise - and my pot belly would just go away, and I could start wearing some of those pants hanging in the back of the closet again. Was I wrong! This was going to be tougher than I thought. I Googled pot belly and visceral fat. What I learned was shocking! I learned that my tummy was firm, not because there was some abdominal muscle tone hiding in there, but because there was a blob of fat under my abdominal muscles that was choking my internal organs and creating chaos in my hormonal system. Excess abdominal fat, the visceral fat that makes your belly hard and protruding, is a particularly dangerous health risk. No excess fat is good but visceral fat greatly increase the risk of developing dementia, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases. One medical journal article I read said that even a little visceral belly fat impedes normal blood flow, and can predispose a person to heart attack or stroke. The complete list of bad effects of belly fat was a disease horror show. I also learned there is no quick fix solution. There are no pills or supplements of any sort that will instantly lose abdominal fat. None of those gimmicky ab rockers, rollers, or ab belts will help get rid of abdominal fat either. You can't spot reduce your stomach fat by using any of these worthless contraptions. It simply doesn't work that way. The only solution to consistently reduce abdominal fat and keep it off for good is to combine a sound nutritious diet full of unprocessed natural foods with a properly designed strategic exercise program that stimulates the necessary hormonal and metabolic response within your body. Both your food intake and your exercise program are critical and must be done together if you are to get this right. Crunches, sit-ups, and abs pumping exercises are a waste of time for reducing abdominal fat. Sure you can do some muscle toning but you're never going to see any results until you get rid of the subcutaneous and visceral abdominal fat, and cardio alone is not the way to do it.

My research did uncover what certainly looks like the absolute most effective strategies for losing stubborn abdominal fat, and getting rid of that dangerous health risk. A flatter stomach and defined midsection is a big vanity bonus but it isn't even the most important part.

A personal fitness program can happen anywhere and at any age. Start off with a pair of New Balance mens walking shoes [http://www.best-walking-shoe.com/new-balance-mens-walkingshoes-mw558] and move on to the flagship New Balance 991 Running Shoes [http://www.bestwalking-shoe.com/new-balance-w991-running-shoes] when the desire to do more kicks in. Never look back.
