A LETTER FROM BOARD PRESIDENT MIKE ANDROVETT St. John’s Episcopal School thrives thanks to the passion and commitment shared by each member of our community. From the moment children arrive at school in the morning, younger students assisted from their cars by older students, the legacy of giving to others is quietly and consistently reinforced. This same spirit lives in classrooms where dedicated, enthusiastic faculty encourage the development of every child into the best version of themselves they can be. And throughout the facility, many volunteers selflessly devote hours of service to keep St. John’s flourishing. Indeed, a strong culture of giving is celebrated every day. Thanks to the concerted efforts of the community, St. John’s

well. I am truly grateful for your unflagging support.

Last year, we reached the following milestones:

Sincerely,

• Record annual giving of over $324,000, with almost half of that being raised as a result of North Texas Giving Day. • A very successful new initiative, the 110% Club, that garnered support from 264 families. • The largest disbursement to the School from the Parents Association on record, an amazing $324,221 to enrich our students’ educational experiences. • A phenomenally successful Fund-A-Need drive that funded the new Outdoor Classroom. • An even stronger Community Partner program that boasts 24 members. All of you play a crucial role in the financial health of the school through the many ways in which you share your talents and charitable dollars. The example you set for our children is one they are learning from and one that not only

A LETTER FROM HEAD OF SCHOOL MARK CROTTY Human organizations often are compared to natural ecosystems. Both function best when each of its parts, no matter how small, has an important role to play. Furthermore, in an ecosystem greater biodiversity boosts productivity. For example, an ecosystem with a larger number of plant species holds a greater variety of crops, which can then feed more animal species. Greater overall species diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms. As I reflect upon the myriad ways people give to St. John’s,

They want to help. Because so many contribute in ways big

St. John’s Episcopal School

What also stands out to me is the spirit in which people give. It’s not merely transactional. Instead, they sense the real magic of a St. John’s education is generated through the relationships here. True emotional connections compel people to desire the best for the school, for each other, and for each student.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT Our project-based approach guides our students to learn about subjects by exploring open-ended questions and solving challenges through creativity and collaboration. It requires that students have fundamental skills in reading, writing, and math combined with important life skills such as teamwork, problem solving, research gathering, time management, information synthesizing and utilization of high-tech tools.

ENDOWMENT

NAMED ENDOWMENT AND SPECIAL PURPOSE FUNDS Endowment funds are permanent funds invested to provide income for St. John’s long-term stability and strength. By making an endowed gift, you leave a lasting legacy and demonstrate an important commitment to the current and future needs of our school.

FACULTY ENDOWMENT FUNDS Teacher Endowment The St. John’s Teacher Endowment Fund was established in 1995 to provide the school with a continuing source of income for teacher salaries and benefits.

FINANCIAL AND ENDOWMENT FUNDS Dorothy Patterson Memorial Scholarship Fund The Dorothy Patterson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1981 by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cook in memory of Dorothy Patterson, the original first-grade teacher at St. John’s. The fund was created to provide financial assistance to students who would not otherwise be able to receive an independent school education and to families faced with unexpected hard times.

Head’s Discretionary Scholarship Fund The Head’s Discretionary Scholarship Fund was created by the Class of 2002 with a challenge for all future graduating classes to donate to this fund. The fund was created to allow a student to continue his or her education at St. John’s if the family encounters unforeseen financial circumstances.

St. John’s Diversity Endowment Fund The Diversity Fund was created to provide financial aid to and increase the population of students from diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL PURPOSE ENDOWMENT FUNDS St. John’s Student Library Endowment The St. John’s Student Library Endowment was established by the Huff family to provide a continuing source of income for library enhancements, author visits, and additional books.

FUND-A-NEED – OUR NEW OUTDOOR CLASSROOM This year’s Auction included the most successful Fund-A-Need in the school’s history. Thanks to the extraordinary support of our St. John’s Community, enough money was raised to fully fund a new outdoor classroom. This space is the realization of a dream that provides a structured exterior environment to extend student learning opportunities on our beautiful campus. We are grateful to all who have been a part of this eagerly anticipated addition.
