St. John's Board of Trade celebrates the best in business
Workplace Excellence Anaconda Mining Inc. This award recognizes companies who have provided an exceptional work environment through things such as staff development, work and life balance, fair employment, staff appreciation, and much more. Anaconda Mining Inc. is a TSX-listed gold mining, exploration and development company on the Baie Verte peninsula. Anaconda attributes it success to their commitment to core values including Safety, responsibility and resourcefulness. The company has a strong commitment to employee education, training and mentoring. They encourage ingenuity, creativity and independent thinking with a monthly Golden Nugget award where employees receive $250 toward a community organization of their choice. Winner of Profit magazines’ award for one of the Best places to work in Atlantic Canada, Anaconda continues its winning ways. Innovative Solutions Fonemed How are you being creative or relevant? This award recognizes a business that provides innovation through a new product, process or positioning. Fonemed provides remote tele-medicine and biometric monitoring to 10 million individuals worldwide. They developed the Fonemed Health Management System (HMS). HMS has fundamentally changed Fonemed and allowed them to pursue clients, partners and sectors that were previously outside of their scope. Deployed in 2016, it is now in service throughout, Canada, the United States, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Peru and Venezuela. The Government of Saskatchewan recently licensed Fonemed’s software to provide clinical operations for their provincial 811 service line. This is a 10year contract that has a total value in excess of $2.1 million. Without innovation, Fonemed could not have pursued this contract.
Customer Service & Reliability Murray Premises Hotel This award recognizes overall achievement or improvement in dedication to customer satisfaction through service, or development of an outstanding product or service. Murray Premises Hotel is a modern Boutique hotel located in a National Historic Site. Currently, they are the only hotel in St. John's who is a part of the Expedia +VIP Access program. They have also been recognized by booking.com. Through TripAdvisor, they have received the coveted Certificate of Excellence for the last 7 years in a row and consistently stay in the top 3 rankings of hotels in St. John's. This year they designed a series of value added packages to help improve their guests overall experience. This includes partnering with other local businesses, as well as some creative amenities such as roses and champagne on Valentine's Day and party favours and Guinness on Paddy's Day.
