of care to a brand new facility when the new medical campus opens. −Hui Cheong, MD I’ve worked at Sutter Memorial intermittently over the past 13 years as a family medicine resident and attending, seeing adults and infants, and delivering babies. Most memorable to me are the following: the bucolic drive down H street (often in a hurry to get to deliveries), the great nursing staff, a special care nursery which had the smallest babies I have ever seen and amazing outcomes nonetheless, the old buildings with an odd layout and series of zigzags to get from one end to another, finding various branches and leaves smothering my car after a Fall shift (huge trees!), and the rewarding meals at nearby Sellands and CafĂŠ Rolle when sustenance was needed. Middle-of-thenight deliveries in a haze of caffeine, much needed nursing station gossip, and convoluted baby daddy scenarios that made my brain hurt. Postpartum hemorrhages flowing like the Ganges that we were able to quell through great teamwork. Dr. Wertz and his little AM radio listening to sports updates while charting in the NICU. An insanely-small Emergency Department that seemed to work miracles and have staff that had been there for decades (think Overlook hotel in The Shining).
