It’s a glorious day for the Oru Kal Oru Kannadi team at the Accord Metropolitan Hotel, Chennai. Already a producer and distributor of merit, his Red Giant Movies began its production ventures with Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay’s Kuruvi. He’s seen the good, bad and ugly of Tamil cinema in all its varying sizes and colours, and by his own admission, loved every moment of it. Being the sole hero of a project however, is a different ball-game altogether, and grilled by the press, he admits that it is something of a daunting experience. “Dancing and action stunts, you know, are not really my cup of tea. But I try my best,â€? he grins, as I engage him in an exclusive chat session. He’s on the best of terms with OKOK’s cast and crew, who call him Udhay affectionately. And wouldn’t trade director Rajesh IRUDQ\RQHDVIDUDVKLVGHEXWÂżOPLVFRQFHUQHGÂł<RXNQRZ what people expect from him: his style and his humour have DJUHDWUHDFK´KHFRQÂżGHVÂł$VIDUDVWKHPRYLHLVFRQFHUQHG the story is all his. When he narrated the one-line to me, I wanted to go ahead with it straightaway. He’s made a few changes to the character to suit my body language, but that’s it,â€? he explains, crediting everything he’s done to his director, cinematographer and choreographer from whom he has learnt a great deal, “And Hansi,â€? he grins. “I mean, she’s acted with top heroes, and had to adjust to me, a new guy, a lot, I think...â€? he guffaws. “So, thanks to her too.â€? Despite his political and cinema pedigree, he comes across as the guy-next-door who’s self-deprecating in the extreme. “I’m thrilled beyond belief right now, with the reach the trailer KDVKDGZLWKWKHDXGLHQFH0\LQER[KDVEHHQĂ€RRGHGZLWK messages, ever since the teaser came out. So it’s all good.â€? But unlike any other debutant though, he’s far from nervous. All those rehearsals were a riot,â€? he grins, as he describes how cameraman, KT Balasubramaniem always adjusted the lighting for heroine,
