Next Steps Your guide to the UH enrollment process


CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations on being admitted to the University of Houston! Now that you have been accepted, you are only a few steps away from your first day as a UH Cougar. Get ready to join the Pride!

• My UH ID Number – In your acceptance letter, you received a seven digit number that will be used to login to your myUH Self-Service Portal at www.my.uh.edu. When in your myUH Self-Service Portal, you can keep track of all of your progress through the enrollment process. • Email Address – The University of Houston uses email as our primary communication tool, so please make sure you provide an email address within your myUH Self-Service Portal. Don’t miss out on important information regarding deadlines and policies. • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) – Get your student and parent Federal Pin Numbers at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Then, beginning January 1st, fill out your Student Financial Aid Form and identify the University of Houston (school code: 003652) as your school of choice. Fill out the form as early as possible because the priority deadline for UH is April 1st. Then, check out all of the scholarship opportunities UH has available for you at www.uh.edu/admissions/financial. • Living on Campus – Check out your housing options at www.uh.edu/student-life/ housing. Housing fills up quickly, so apply online today! . • Required Tests

-  TSI (Texas Success Initiative) – See if you’re exempt from TSI by going to the following website: http://uscholars.uh.edu/AAC/uschol_aac3a.htm. If you are not exempt, you will have to take one of the following TSI placement tests: THEA, ASSET, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER. All incoming freshmen are required to clear their TSI status before they will be able to register for Orientation.

-  Math Placement Test - All incoming freshmen are required to take the UH Math Placement Exam before they will be able to register for Orientation. The Math Placement Test can be found on the Orientation website at www.uh.edu/orientation.

• New Student Orientation – Orientation is mandatory for all new incoming Freshmen students. At Orientation, you will meet with your academic advisor, have the ability to enroll in classes, and find out all about the great student organizations and services UH has to offer. Be sure to sign up for an early Orientation to make sure you get the best class schedule possible! (www.uh.edu/orientation) • Enroll in Your Chosen Classes – After meeting with your advisor at Orientation, you will be given the opportunity to enroll in classes. Make sure to enroll as early as possible to avoid full classes. Please note that you will not be able to enroll in classes until after your advising appointment at Orientation. • Cougar One Card – Your Cougar One Card is your student ID, and funds can be added to this card to use as a payment method wherever debit cards are accepted. Check out the following website for more info: www.uh.edu/cougar1card. • Parking – Set up your on-campus parking on Parking and Transportation’s website: www.uh.edu/student-life/parking-transport. • Fee Bill – Once you have registered for classes, you can view and pay your fee bill by logging in to www.my.uh.edu. • Student Health Plan – If you think you might need the Student Health Plan, check it out by going to UH’s Health Center site (www.uh.edu/admin/hc), and then click on the Student Health Insurance link on the left. The link will take you to UH’s third party health insurance partner for more information. • Text Books – You can shop the UH bookstore online to buy books for your classes at www.uh.edu/bkstore.com. • Student Life – To check out our over 300 student organizations, our state of the art Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, our 16 Division 1 sports teams, and our Cougar traditions, go to www.uh.edu/student-life.
