I want to begin by thanking everyone who participated in ministry throughout the month of April. As I began to tabulate all the hours of work that is done by our volunteers I was reminded that this is an enormous team effort. When you consider every ministry in the church and you calculate conservatively how many hours our church family puts in during a single month, the total exceeds 2000 hours per month. Again, that is a conservative estimate. The reason this is important is that we often miss the opportunity to say thank you to people who work diligently without ever expecting anything in return. There are so many things that we never notice, unless they are missing. I remember watching the movie “Pearl Harbor” and there is that line that just captured my attention. “Nothing is stronger than the heart of a volunteer”. As we read God’s word, we see a consistent pattern. God’s people encouraged one another. At the end of Paul’s letters to the churches, he always encourages those who were serving. I hope you will take the time to tell our volunteers, the ones who sing, greet, cook, teach, and a long list of other things, how much you appreciate them. Send them a card, a text or an email and simply let them know that you notice their labor of love. You might be amazed at the impact you can have in the life of another when you encourage them. With that being said, I want to say thanks. I will not list all the areas but I want to thank our volunteers for the work you do to make FBCSS a wonderful place to serve the Lord.

Be blessed, Pastor Mark
