Emotion_Architecture We need to experience architecture by What is emotion ? sensing its spaces, listening to it, touching > ‘‘ Almost everyone except the psyit and even sitting quietly inside buildings chologist knows what an emotion is’’ with our eyes closed, but our minds’ eyes wide open. So, Sensing Spaces is about The word emotion is often applied to how architecture confronts us and coma wide variety of phenomena , such as municates with us on an emotional and passions,sentiments,temperament and psychological as well as visual and intellectual level. It’s about visitors experiencing moods. Although these words regurlalrly used interchangebaly , they do in fact real spaces rather than staring at iconic images of famous buildings. Architecture refer to specific and different experiemoves us , it elicits different emotions , it mental phenomena . can bring back memories , but it also elic- People differ with respect to their emoits direct emotions. 2D Abstractions On the based of sensing the emotions multiple 2-D Abstractions were drawn. Out of all these two suited best to the site.

The emotion sensed while being there were claustrophobic , relief and inviting. These emotions can vary person-to-person. While there was a clear transition of a inviting space and a claustrophobic space. I picked up the emotion ‘Inviting’ and started working towards it.

Project_ 01 Play School

Site Location : Aravali hills,Gurgaon The school infrastructure is designed in a way that the children could have opportunity to learn through playing. The school building itself acts as a learning aid. The architecture is such that it attracts children towards the school, promotes activities and increases peer learning opportunities by making the whole campus a child friendly one. Special care is taken to monitor and maintain Right Lighting Clean and comfortable air quality Safety and security Sound acoustics Anthropological and social aspects of class rooms and transitional spaces Sensory stimulation harmony through use of colourful patterns on walls and floors Supervisable circulation spaces (such as hallways and corridors)

Plan_First floor The first floor has terrace garden for children and staff , two classrooms , activty room and staffrooms . Security of the children has been kept a major concern in the design . Spaces to sharpen the skills of children are also developed within the school premises.
