CAMPER READINESS How do you determine if a child is eligible for a camp?
OurAviarylocationofferscampsforkindergarten through8thgrade Campersmustbeenrolledin kindergartenthrougheighthgradeforthe2025-2026 schoolyear,bepottytrained,andturnatleast5years oldbythefirstdayofthesessionforwhichtheyare enrolled.Transitionalkindergartenstudentscurrently enrolledintheAllAroundFunProgrammayrequest registrationforSpringBreakCamp
SRSRCrequiresacopyofthecamper’sbirthcertificate tobeuploadedintothefamily’sCampBrainaccount forallcampersenrolledintransitionalkindergartenor kindergartentoverifyageeligibilityforcamps.
Thesequestionsshouldbeaskedbyparents/guardians inordertoassistwithdeterminingreadiness.Ifthe answersareprimarily“no,”thenitmightnotbethe righttimeforyourchildtogetthemostoutofacamp experience.That’sokay!Eachchildisdifferentand campsmaynotbetherightfitforeverychildorat everystageoflife.Campersmayfeelmore comfortablebeingabletoaskanadultforhelp,when heorshecanadapttochanges,andwhenheorsheis abletofollowinstructions.Thisisimportantinsetting upcampersforsuccess.

Step2:Decideoncampsessiondates,select week-longcamps,selectpickuptimes,and selectanyoptionaladd-ons.
Step3:Logonorcreateanewaccountthrough ouronlineregistrationsystemCampBrainat https://srsrc.campbrainregistration.com/ Followthedirectionstofilloutallrequired formsandrequestallsessiondates,camps,and staggeredpick-uptimeslotsyouwouldlikefor yourcamper.Youwillreceiveanautomated emailresponseonceyourrequesthasbeen successfullysubmitted.

What is the camp transfer policy?
Acamptransferrequestmaybemadetotransfera camperfromoneweektoanotherwithinthesame campseason Creditbalancesmaynotbeusedfor eitheradifferentSRSRCYouthChildren’sProgram, membershipaccountoradifferentcampseasoninthe future.Transferrequestsmustbemade14daysor morepriortothecampweek.Alltransferswillbe assesseda$20.00transferfeepercamperpersession. Can I ask to see who is registered for certain camps?

Can my camper and his/her friend be in the same group during the day?
Eachindividualcampusuallystaystogetherinagroup duringamajorityoftheday;however,dependingon campneedsandphysicaldistancingguidelines,camp maydivideintogroupsforactivities.Wemaygroup campersbasedongrades,staggeredregisteredtimes, ability,and/orhouseholds,inwhichcasewemaynot alwaysbeabletokeepfriendsinthesamegroup.You maysubmitarequesttoacampdirector.Wetryto keepfriendstogether,butwealsoencouragecampers tomakeadditionalnewfriends.
What if the camp week I want for my child is already full? Is there a waiting list?
Whenconfirmingregistrationwithacampdirector, thatdirectorwillletyouknowwhichrequestsare fulfilledandwhichneedtobeaddedtoourwaitlist.We willnotifyyouifaspotbecomesavailableforyour camperinthatactivity.
Will my camper be photographed or video recorded?

What if I need before and/or after care for my camper?

What if I am going to be late picking up my camper?

What if the off-site campers will be returning later than planned?

What are the safety procedures during transportation?
WhenusingtransportationbyvanforanSRSRCcamp, wefollowstrictproceduresrecommendedbyACA. Theseproceduresincludesitemssuchashavinga campcounselorconfirmcampersarebuckled,using boosterseatsasrequiredbylaw,andcheckingthat ourvansareingoodrepair.
Campersonthevanwillalwaysbesupervisedbya campstaff.WealwayscarrySRSRCcommunication devices(suchasSRSRCcellularphonesandwalkie talkies)incaseofemergency,firstaidsupplies,camp roster,aswellascopiesofcamperhealthhistoryforms inordertoensureasafetrip.SRSRCdoesnotuse privatevehiclesfortransportation.

Participantsin6th-8thgradewillbeallowedtosign him/herselfinandoutwithaCamperReleaseForm completed/signedbytheparents.Camperswitha releaseformareexpectedtosigninattheselected sign-intimeandsign-outattheselectedsign-outtime. Themajorityofourcampstaffarecollegestudents andadultswithinthechildcarecareersetting.Some membersofourstaffmaybecredentialedteachers, someareincollegemajoringinelementaryeducation, somearealreadyworkingatschoolsinlocalschool districts,andsomeworkwithouryouthprogramsyear round.
Ofourstaff,themajorityare18yearsofageorolder. AllcounselorsaretrainedinCPRandfirstaid.Some mayhavelifeguardingcertificationorotherrelevant specialcertifications.Ourstaffistrainedtousethe “ruleofthree,”toavoidsituationsinwhichtheymay beoneononewithacamper.Allofourstaffisdevoted toworkingwithandprovidingcareforthechildrenin ourcamps.
What training does the camp staff receive?
Allnewcampstaffmembersarerequiredtoattendthe equivalentoffourtofivedaysoftrainingpriorto workinginthecampprogram.Manyofourcampstaff havebeencampersatSRSRCwhentheywereyounger, somehavehadmultiplesummersofexperiencewith us,andsomeareyearroundemployeesofSRSRCin theYouthProgramsDepartment.Leadershipstaffalso attendtrainingsessionspriortothestartofcamp. Can camp staff babysit?
Ourcampcounselorsworkwellwithchildren; however,westronglydiscouragehavingstaffbabysit. Itisourpolicythatstaffmemberscanonlybabysitfor thosewhoareinourSRSRCcampprogramifthe arrangementissetupontheirown.Anybabysitting donebystaffisnotaffiliatedwithourcampprogram oranySRSRCprogram.
Can camp staff accept presents?

Ourstaffspeakswiththecamper,allowsthecamperto sharehis/herviewoftheissueandanyrelevant information,allowsthecampertotaketimeoutto thinkabouttheiractionsandhowitaffectsthecamp experience,andthenletthechildreturntotheactivity.
Ifmisbehaviorisrecurrentorthemisbehaviorismore severeordisruptive,thechildmayeitherbeaskedto sitoutduringanactivityortheparentmaybecalledto pickupthechild.Someactsmayresultinimmediate suspensionorexpulsionofthechildfromthecamp programincludingbutnotlimitedto:fighting, intentionallyharmingothers,theft,andpossessionof weaponsordrugs.

What is your policy on bullying?
Bullyingisaggressivebehaviortowardsanother individualwiththeintentionofcausingharm,inwhich thereexistsanimbalanceofpowerbetweenthebully andthevictim,whichoccursrepeatedlyorhasthe potentialtoberepeated(AmericanPsychological Association,2016).Bullyinghappenswhenapersonor groupofpeoplewanttohavepoweroveranotherand usetheirpowertogettheirway,attheexpenseof someoneelse.Bullyingcomesinmanyforms,suchas physical,verbal,andrelational.

1.Thecamper'smedicationneedstobebroughtto campandgiventotheCampDirectoror designatedstaffinapaperbaginitsoriginal container.Pleaselabelthebagwiththecamper's name,andcamp.Pleasedonotpackthe medicationinthechild'sbackpackorinthechild's lunch.
2.Themedicationmustbeprescribedbyadoctor andinitsoriginalprescriptionbottlewithyour child'snameprintedonthelabel.Includewritten instructionsfromaphysicianasperquantity,time toadminister,anyotherdirections,andwritten clearancegivingSRSRCpermissiontoadminister themedication.Pleasespecifyifrefrigerationis necessary.
3.Acompletedmedicationreleaseformmustbe completedeveryweekorforthewholesummer forcamperswhoregisterformultipleweeks.This medicationreleaseformmustbeonfilewiththe CampDirectorbeforemedicationcanbe administeredtoyourchild.Thisformisavailable fromtheCampDirector,aswellasonlineinyour CampBrainaccount.
4.Nooverthecountermedicationwillbe administeredunlessapprovedontheHealth Historyformorwithparent'swrittenconsent.
5.Pleasepickupyourchild’smedicationafterthe lastweekforwhichyourcamperisenrolled.Ifitis notpickedupinatimelymanner,SRSRCmay disposeofthemedication.
What if my camper needs special accommodations?
Ifyourcamperrequiresspecialaccommodations,such asspecialmedicalneeds,pleasecontacttheCamp Directorpriortoregisteringforcampstodiscussifwe areabletoprovidesuitableaccommodationsfora successfulcampexperience.Ourgoalisforour camperstobesuccessfulandfeelincludedatcamp, however,wemustalsoworkwithinthelimitationsof ourtrainingandresources.
What if my camper becomes ill or injured at camp?
Ifyourchildbecomesillduringcamp,wewillcontact theparentbyphonetopickthechildup.Ifthelegal guardiancannotbecontacted,SRSRCstaffwillbegin contactingtheemergencycontactslistedonyour child'smedicalform.
Campisnotdesignedtohandleillchildren,soitisthe parent'sresponsibilitytopickhis/herchildup,or arrangepickupbyanemergencycontact,within30 minutes.Childrenwhoareshowingsignsor experiencingsymptomsofillnessshouldnotattend camp,andwillbesenthome.Campersmustbefeverfreeforaminimumof24hourswithouttheuseof fever-reducingmedications,mustnolongerbeinthe contagiousphaseoftheirillness,andsymptomsmust beresolvinginordertoreturntocamp. Wewillfollow theCADepartmentofPublicHealthandtheCountyof SanDiegoguidanceforsituationsinwhichacamperor stafftestspositiveforCOVID-19.
Notfeelingwellmaypreventachildfromfully participatingin,andenjoying,thecampexperience. Sickcampersalsoriskthehealthofothercampers whowishtoenjoytheirowncampexperience.
Ifyourchildbecomesinjuredwhileatcamp,SRSRC staffwilltakewhateverstepsnecessarytoobtain
medicalcareforyourchild.Foraminorinjuryan accidentreportwillbefilledout.Foraninjurythatis believedtobebeyondourscope,emergency personnelwillbecalledoryourchildmaybe transportedtothehospitalinanSRSRCvehicle.Any expensesforroutineoremergencymedicalcareare theresponsibilityoftheparent.

What if I need to speak with my camper while they are at camp?

How do I communicate with the SRSRC camp staff?
