At first, I didn’t want to apply SRI because one of principles of SRI is to transplant seedlings with wider spacing, which means fewer seedlings are planted in comparison with traditional practices. However, with encouragement from the Plant Protection Sub-Department, I committed myself to implementing this model. Additionally, the project commits to compensating for yield losses if SRI crops generate lower yields than common methods. Through SRI, rice plants have higher number of tillers, more grains per panicle and are more resistant to pesticides. SRI helps reduce production costs and increase our profit.
