...A Legacy of Excellence

Spend the Day at St. Pius!

PHILOSOPHY...mind, body, soul We, the Catholic learning community of St. Pius X High School, maintain recognized excellence in educational programs for students of all abilities. We strive to impart Christian ethical principles of living to students, preparing them to be productive and contributing members of a global society. We, as members of St. Pius X High School, seek to challenge each other individually to become lifelong learners in mind, body and soul.

MIND The faculty and staff at St. Pius X High School prepare students for the 21st century. With the exploding rate of technological advcancement, we know we are preparing students for majors and careers which do not yet exist. By implementing standards which remain constant in the education of each St. Pius X student, we are teaching students how to work with others, how to collect and analyze information, how to create and present solutions and how to think globally. These are key skills which, when taught properly, foster bright, confident and successful students.

BODY As beings created in God’s image and likeness, it is our responsibility to be good stewards of the physical self we have been given. This is accomplished at St. Pius X High School by teaching students what it means to be healthy. From our established Wellness Plan, staff-certified CrossFit Kids trainers, being named a “Fit Friendly” establishment by the American Heart Association to incorporating The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey into our curriculum, we make it clear: teaching life-long physical wellness is a high priority which goes hand in hand with developing the minds of our students.

SOUL Catholic schools have a singular mission: to foster the growth of good Catholic human beings who love God and neighbor and thus fulfill their destiny of becoming saints. “The essential task of authentic education at every level is not simply that of passing on knowledge, essential as this is, but also of shaping hearts. There is a constant need to balance intellectual rigor in communicating effectively, attractively and integrally, the richness of the Church’s faith with forming the young in the love of God, the praxis of the Christian moral and sacramental life and, not least, the cultivation of personal and liturgical prayer.” -Pope Benedict XVI to the U.S. Bishops of Region XIII In every aspect of their education, students need to be encouraged to articulate a vision of the harmony of faith and reason capable of guiding a life-long pursuit of knowledge and virtue. We, at St. Pius X High School, embrace this tradition of spiritual, intellectual and human formation for each student.

MIND...extraordinary academics St. Pius X High School prides itself on a tradition of Catholic academic excellence. We accept students of all faiths and backgrounds and focus on the abilities of each individual student, instilling in them a love of learning which prepares them for higher education and beyond. Taking a course-load of eight classes, students will attend six classes each day on a rotating daily schedule. Included in each day is an hour break for lunch during which time students can eat at their leisure, take advantage of teacher office hours, visit with with college reps, study and complete homework. During this unique break in the day, students may also participate in clubs, join many opportunities for prayer and worship offered by campus ministry, or just enjoy some unscheduled time to recharge and refocus. Unique to the Catholic high school experience, students take courses in Theology throughout their four years, even having the opportunity to earn college credit in Theology through St. Louis University. By the end of the high school journey, each student will complete 100 required service hours, building a strong foundation of personal commitment to “giving back” to the community, nation and world. The curriculum is carefully planned to include courses which ensure success at the collegiate level. College credit is offered in the following courses: Theology, American Politics, American History, American Foreign Policy, Business Technology, English III, English IV, Spanish III, Spanish IV and Calculus. Students and teachers benefit from interdisciplinary strategies and the integration of technology in the classroom. With a student to faculty ratio of 11:1, our small classroom settings allow teachers to show extraordinary care to students.
