Merry Christmas - from the Morris clan
Keisha starts school At the beginning of 2010 our “baby” started school. She has a lovely teacher and has made lots of friends. Here she is (below) with a friend on a school trip to Heritage Park.
Summer days We started the year with our annual Shepherd clan jaunt to Taupo Bay in January. We are all planning to be back there again for 5 days in 2011. Beach babes (with Dad)!
Happy Birthday to Mum I had my 40th birthday this year. As some of you can no doubt sympathize, it took a little while to get my head around it.
SingStar This year Caitlin has been having singing lessons with a local teacher. She has sung at several concerts which have all been great experience for her. She made the final five in the local radio station’s Junior Star Search competition to sing at Christmas in the Park again (in front of 10,000 people). This year she sang a Christmas duet with her partner Caleb.
However, I had such a lovely week that I would be more than happy to have another 40th birthday next year. We had a lovely family lunch at the Waipu Pizza Barn. Then I had a dinner with a few girlfriends. To cap off the week, Tony and I spent three nights in Sydney while the grandparents looked after the kids.
School Stuff Gala—Mum was roped on to the committee again for the school gala. Caitlin sang, Keisha danced, Mum took photos and Dad bid for lots of stuff at the auction! Board Of Trustees— Dad was elected onto the Board of Trustees this year, so he is having lots of fun with that!
Hockey Both girls played hockey for Marist this year. Mum coached Caitlin’s D grade team for the first time. We had about 50/50 in terms of wins and losses so not a bad start. Dad played for Ruatangata again and Mum was on the Hockey Northland Board for another year.
Holiday in Oz The highlight of our year was an 8 day holiday to the Sunshine Coast in October. Although, it rained for 5 days so we did consider asking for a refund due to false advertising about the “sunshine” coast bit. Still, a lovely relaxing week and very special family time away from emails and cellphones.
Auckland Zoo At Easter we went to Auckland so Caitlin could go to a school holiday “Popstars” workshop. Mum, Dad, Keisha and the cousins headed for a day at the zoo.
Oakura Cabin This year we have leased a little one roomed cabin at a local beach camping ground which we have been using as our “bach”. We have had some great weekends out there and will be spending10 days there at Christmas. We use the camp facilities so there is no cleaning, no rates just lots of relaxing, swimming and reading. Perfect!
News Flash—Tony has been on a bit of a health kick since October and has lost 10kgs. We are very proud of him!!
