MLB Betting - The Home Run Champs There are many ways that you look at MLB betting systems and the many different types of bets offered, like who will be the home run champ. Even if you don't have a MLB betting system that picks this, you can still get into the action. It can be fun to look at some side bets like this at the beginning of the season. They also can be profitable if your MLB bet wins. One of the most popular side bets is on "The Home Run Champ". All you have to do is look at the odds and who you think will smash the most balls out of the yard this season and lay your money down. Of course, a bet like this is not considered low risk, but sometimes you have to do things for fun too and the chance it might pay off. You probably won't find an MLB betting system that will pick the home run champ, so you are on your own to determine this. You can develop your own home run betting system to pick the winner. There are a few ways that you can do this. The easiest and most obvious is to look at last years statistics and see who the home run champ was. I generally look at the top 10 and compare last years stats on them. I then go through a few more things to narrow down the field. The first thing I do is look at the player's performance in spring training. I generally don't do any MLB betting on the preseason, but I do follow the stats. Check to see where the home run hitters you listed are on the stats sheets. Look for the key stats such as at bats, home runs, batting average and walks. I include walks because sometimes potential home run champs get walked a lot. This doesn't happen as often during spring training, but is a common occurrence during the MLB regular season. The next thing you need to look at when picking a home run champ with your MLB betting system are injuries. Again this may seem obvious, but may people miss it. During the preseason it can be a bit harder to get accurate MLB injury information as the media doesn't pay as much attention to preseason as it does to the MLB regular season. But, you'll see that they will report the injures of main players on the front pages. Generally, since you are looking for a home run champ, any injury that affects someone on your list shouldn't be to hard to find. I always look at each player and check a few sites to get as much information as possible on each players' status, especially if I am concerned about a possible injury. Rate any current injury or the after affects of a player has just returned from an injury and make a note of it beside the respective MLB player on your list. That's the main information you need and now you can use your MLB betting system to pick a player for your home run champ bet. Compare last years stats to this years current spring training stats and give each player a rating based on this. Next, if a player is injured or if there are concerns about the injury a player may have just returned from, you need to downgrade them. The amount will depend on the severity of the injury. Once you are done that you need to look at each MLB player individually
and determine where they are headed. Is the player older and on his way down or is he an up and comer and likely to increase his home run total on the quest to become the home run champ? This has to be taken into account as does the MLB player's consistency. Has this player hit a high number of home runs over the last few seasons or has he only put good numbers up in 1 or 2 seasons? After you analyze this, you again need to feed that information into your MLB betting system. For my MLB betting system, I use a weighted ranking for each area I consider and come up with a number that is based on the number of players I am looking at. I give the highest number to the player with the best rank for that statistic. Then I go repeat this process on each statistic and rank the players accordingly. I then add up the total and the player with the highest total is who my MLB betting system has determined will be this season's home run champ. It is pretty straight forward, but it is also very useful. Now that you have determined who you think your home run champ is you need to visit your favorite sports books and see who has the best odds offered. As always, there will be differences and because picking a home run champ can be very subjective you will find differences. Look at 5 or 6 sports books and go with the best odds. With a side bet like this you need to get the best possible value. Then, place your bet and sit back and count the home runs. It makes the long season even more exciting. Another thing that makes it exciting is knowing that you picked this yourself. You didn't have to pay anybody for the pick and you now have a MLB betting system you can use year after year to pick your home run champ.
