ll of us have our own favorite reasons for attending SPJST District Fall Fun Days. In a very real way, they represent extensions of our home and community life and are an opportunity to bring our larger, fraternal family together and to celebrate our common bonds. For the benefit of those who were unable to attend, I am compelled to comment just a little about svačina program: We had a blast! By its very definition, the Czech word svačina is derived from the old Czech word “svak,” which originally referred to a meeting or get-together of friends and acquaintances. On this particular Sunday, svačina was all about intertwining reminiscing, music, fun, and games — and food. Thanks to my wonderful svačina program co-presenters: State FAC Frank Horak and State Youth Director Lynette Talasek.
