From Great-Grandma Helen to Aleen
Helen Kubicek (1923 - 2009) was crowned “Queen” of SPJST Lodge 88, Houston on October 30, 2005. (She is pictured with “King” Anton J. Fabrygel.) Helen was a lifelong Lodge 88 member who loved to dance, play taroky, and collect can tabs. She shared her love of music and heritage with her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.
Helen’s great-granddaughter Aleena Alvarado represented the Czech Republic at Mathews Elementary in Austin, Texas, on May 21, 2010. Aleena participated in the Parade of Nations wearing Helen’s kroj. Students celebrate their family’s culture and heritage through customs, music, song, dance, and food during the annual International Festival celebration.
2010-2011 District Three Royalty
Congratulations to the 2010-2011 District Three Royalty Court. They were crowned on Sunday, June 27 at Youth Achievement Day held at Lodge 183, Arlington. They are, left to right, Duchess Brittney Higgins, Queen Katie Weeks, King Tommy Weeks, and Duke Levi Adamek, all of Lodge 183, Arlington.
