spisLco_n Lodge 49, Rowena member Viola Koren achieves Aga SZ rez,agnition The SPJST congratulates Sister Viola Korenek who celebrated her 96th birthday on January 2, 1999. As such, Sister Korenek is entitled to all SPJST member benefits with no further dues or assessments required.

Viola Korenek, a member of Lodge 49, Rowena, was born on January 2, 1903 near the community of St. John in Lavaca County to Anton and Therezia Pavlicek Mika. In 1906, the family moved to Runnels County near Miles. Later, the family moved to a farm on the Colorado River north of Rowena. Viola was the Viola Korenek fifth of eigth children. She and one sister are the only survivors. Sister Viola married Emil Korenek in 1928 and they moved to a farm near San Angelo. There, the Koreneks had one daughter, Margaret. Today, Margaret and her husband, David Humes live on the farm near San Angelo. One grandchild, Christi La Ree lives in Arlington, Texas. Brother Emil Korenekpassed away in 1930. Viola now ,resides in Baptist Memorial Center in San Angelo where she still takes part in most of the activities. Once again, the SPJST congratulates Sister Korenek on achieving the "Grand Age of 96." —SPJST-

Cowing soon to an Internet connection near you If all goes according to schedule, the SPJST will make its introductory flight into cyberspace sometime in October, according to Assistant to the Vice President Kathy Fritz, who chairs the SPJST's Internet Development team. Team members Fritz, Vestnik Editor Brian Vanicek, State FAC Barbara Rosenkranz and Legal Assistant Susie Ernst have been working closely with Steve DiMartino, a local Internet site developer, in putting the final touches on Phase I of the SPJST's web site.

State Personnel Ready to Rally Youngsters attending the recent membership rally at Lodge 183, Arlington display prizes they won playing games. Thanks to Youth Leader Sandra Edwards who assisted the young people with art projects during the rally. Want to get your local lodge motivated for the 21st Century? Then consider hosting one of "The Power and the Promise" membership rallies at your lodge. Committee members will present Supreme Lodge members with a preview of the new web site, at their October meeting at the SPJST Home Office in Temple. "After that, we should be just a few days and a couple of mouse clicks away from our members and prospective members home computers," says Sister Fritz. The SPJST web site will incorporate information on a wide range of SPJSTrelated topics, ranging from insurance, annuity and mortgage lending information to the youth program, scholarship program and historical outline of the SPJST. Local lodge and sales representatives will also be identified on the web site. "Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will our web site," says Sister Fritz. "Visitors to our site will be encouraged to visit often as it will be our intent to keep the site fresh with regular updates and improvements." —SPJST-
