Lodge 4 Elects Officers

District V Sales Seminars Held Lodges 88 and 81 held insurance seminars on October 27th and 28th at the lodge halls located in Houston and Needville.

The seminars were conducted by State Field Manager Gene McBride and State Field Representative Raymond Budewig and assisted by District V Director Jerry Prochazka.

The seminar opened with a meal served by Willie Wehring Catering Service of Hsuston, After the meal a very informative seminar was conducted.

Gebala Vice President, SPJST 520 North Main Temple, TX 76501 Dear Mr. Gebala: I am addressing this letter to you because we have been in touch with each other a great deal in recent weeks, but it is really intended for all the wonderful people of SP JST who did so much to help make Czech Music in Texas: A Sesquicentennial Symposium an outstanding success when it was held in Bryan, Texas November 14 16.

The fine exhibit from your museum at the Supreme Lodge, the financial support of the concert Czech orchestras from Dallas and Houston, your own work as moderator of the special panel discussion on Czech music in Texas, Mr. Sefcik's generous help with publicity in the Vestnik, Mr. Mikeska's support in the TOCA newsletter-- all of this was extremely

helpful. Most impressive to me, however, was the implied attitude of "What can we do to help promote Czech culture in Texas during this Sesquicentennial year?" rather than "What can you do to help the SPJST?" On behalf of the Czech Ex - Students Association of Texas and the Brazos County Sesquicentennial Commission, thank you very much for your help.

Without your backing=both financial and moral=we never could have organized the program in the way we did.

Dear Members: Our lodge met Sunday, November 9, 1986 at the Grant Building in Hallettsville with Lodge President Annie Vahalík presiding.

Corresponding Secretary Erwin Holy read the minutes to the last meeting which were· approved after minor corrections.

Correspondence followed.

Treasurer Helen Zabransky and Financial Secretary Hilmer Galetka gave their reports.

Election of officers was held for 1987 with the following elected: President -- Annie Vahalík Vice President -- Gaye Galetka Corresponding Secretary -- Erwin Holy Financial Secretary -- Hilmer Galetka Treasurer -- Helen Zabransky Co - Youth Leaders -- Gaynell Chudej and Evelyn Holy Reporter -- Patsy Zabransky Our December meeting will be a regular meeting and Christmas party.

The youth club will have a Christmas tree and entertainment. A Czech video available from District VI Director Matt Vanek from the Supreme Lodge will be shown.

The meeting adjourned.

Refreshments and lunch were served and enjoyed.

Members with a birthday in October, November or December present were Janell Chudej, Evelyn Holy, Tramer Woytek and Anton Bolom. The lucky winner of the birthday cake was Janell Chudej, who also won the door prize.

Our next meeting with our Christmas party will be Sunday, December 14th at the Grant Building beginning at 2 p.m. Gaynell Chudej and Evelyn Holy will have a Christmas tree and entertainment for us to enjoy; also the lodge is planning to show the Czech video. Refreshments and lunch will be served as usual. Members and their families are encouraged to attend and get in the Christmas spirit.

Jan Zižka Lodge No. 18, Elgin Lodge No. 18 held its meeting on November 18, 1986. President Roy Simank opened the meeting at 8 p.m.

Twenty - five members were in attendance and were led in the Pledge of Allegiance by Secretary Gilbert Kubicek.

After roll call of officers, the readings of the minutes and correspondence were done by the secretary. The Podluzan group from Czechoslovakia are to perform at various locations in Central Texas and all were encouraged to see this Czech group perform.

A special thanks to all the officers and chairpersons; all of the reports looked very favorable and all were encouraged to continue with their fine work.

The "600 Members" mark was finally reached!

Our sales representatives are congratulated for achieving this goal. Now let 's go for 700!!

Under new business, the Christmas party was discussed. It will be held on December 13th from 8:30 to 12:30.

The Hi - Toppers will be supplying the music. This will be a regular dance, however, the lodge will supply the refreshments of sandwiches, chips, ' dips, etc. We hope to see all of our friends and patrons at this event so we can show our. appreciation for their support in 1986.

The New Year's Eve dance will feature Lee Roy Matocha and will be lrom 8:15 to 12:15. Tickets are now on sale for $10 per person. Hope to see you there!

Irene Heldgren, Evelyn Gustafson and Alice Kovar will again head up the decorating of the hall for the Christmas season. With their years of experience and everyone's assistance, our hall should, once again, look superb for the holidays.

Youth leader was tabled until our December meeting; hopefully, this fine group will serve us again in the same outstanding manner in which the current officers have served.

A special thanks to outgoing President Roy Simank. Roy did us a great job this year and we appreciated it very much.

After the door prize was won by Sister Gladys Mogonye, the meeting was adjourned.

Lodge 20 Annual Meeting/Party The Granger SPJST Lodge No. 20 will have their annual meeting and Christmas party on Sunday, December 14th at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Granger.

Santa Claus will make his visit to greet everyone. A barbecue supper will be served. Drinks and meat will -be furnished and each family is asked to bring two dishes -- a vegetable, salad and/or dessert.

Successful Activity At Lodge 49 Rowena SP JST Lodge No. 49 held a quilt show, and flea market in the lodge hall in October of this year, which was a success in that 55 beautiful quilts, 9 afghans, 2 bedspreads, several throw pillows, and other handwork items were exhibited.

Everyone enjoyed the show. One lady sold two quilt tops, one of which she is to quilt for the customer.

Other attractions were the tables set up for the flea market.

The lodge sold barbecue sandwiches, kolache, cakes and pies.

Lodge 24 Schedules Christmas Activities Dear Readers: This is just a reminder of our annual Christmas party which will be held Sunday, December 14th starting with happy hour and eggnog at 3 p.m. The youth club will be putting on a program at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Several ladies will be making the turkey and dressing, also each member is asked to bring a salad /vegetables and dessert.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a fine meal.

Our December meeting is Wednesday, December 10th at 7:30 p.m. There will be a lot of discussion on project solving problems, dances, etc. for 1987 so please try and attend; it will be an important meeting.

Karas of Houston) The Milleniumcelebrations at Velehrad close to Uherské Hradiště in Southern Moravia were the summit ofKřížkovský's successes;cantata Hveždy dvě z východu se berou ve svatém průvodu (Two starts from the East are going in the holy pro­ cession) sung at Velehrad during the Millenium, festivitiesenraptured listeners, including the famous Czech historian and politician František (Frank) Palacký to the thundering ovations. Křížkovský also attended to the musical life of Brno with uncommon diligence. From the singers under his jurisdiction he brought up ex­ cellent musicians such as, for example, W. Jahn a Leoš Janáček, who later became the best musical composer in Moravia.Křížkovský's great successesand his popularity were a thorn in the side (trnem v oku, as we say in Czech) of Ger­ man Catholic hierarchy. Using.the pretext that life in a monastery does not agree with the public activities outside the cloister walls, Křížkovský was forced, by the above mentioned authorities, not only to give up his work in Brno's Beseda but also to curtail all other secular musical ac­ tivity. For this reason he could not write an opera for The National Theatre in Prague as he was asked to do by Bohumír Rieger.. This prohibition of his composition did influence his personal nature; he became a loner and was now inclined to pessimism. Since that horrible step by German religious authorities Křížkovský started to have health pro­ blems and was often sick. The only joy left to him was religiousmusic, which was (right at that time) going through a so­ called Cecilian radical reform. (Cecilie or spelled Caecilie = defensor of religious music; cecilianismus = obrodné hnutí v cirkevní hudbě.) Křížkovský was a pro­ pagator of this reform and the results he obtained in its application induced Car­ dinal Furstenberg to name him a director or choir and dom's conductor at St. Wenceslas Cathedral in Olomouc. After accomplishment of the Cecilian reform at Olomouc Křížkovský stayed on there for 8 years. During that time he composed stylishly disciplined and forever praiseworthy following songs: Te Deum, Lauretanae Litaniae, Requiem, Christmas songs, The Passions, two voices Holy, Holy do we sing, and many others. When the sing association žerotín was formed in 1880 in Olomouch, Křížkovský, by suppor­ ting its activity with all his might, came again close to secular music. This is cor­ roborated by his last two choir composi­ tions Vesna (Spring)and Je jaro (It is Spr­ ing). Meantime his longtime eye and throat disease with destructive liver sickness,which he tried to cure at Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) in 1877, tormented him in remaining few years of his life. In 1879 he visited, for a last time, Opava and its neighborhood, where he was born. Brno he visited very seldom; for this reason a deputy director of the choir at St. Thomas in Old Brno was thus named Leoš

Janáček, who was at that time 18 years old. Although Křížkovský was stricken by the first heart attack on 30th October, 1881, his activity continued unabated.

Next heart attact in May 1883 paralysed the whole left side of his body; he had to resign and went at his request to livein the peacefully quiet cell in the Augustinian Monastery in Old Brno. He lived there a solitary life and hardly spoke to anyone.

His suffering was at least partially moderated by the recognization of his greatness by his supervisors in the monastery and by the acknowledgement of all sections of the Czech nation. The church circles named him a consistory councillor and the Czech people honoured him by a big ceremonial con­ cert arranged by Prague's Hlahol and Brno's Beseda. Many newly-formed sing­ ing bodies in the old country were named Křížkovský to honour his endeavour in the Czech heritage. In June 1884, Pavel Křížkovský was taking a cure in the best Moravian spa Luhačovice, where - ac­ cording to his own words - he felt much better than in the last severalmonths. For this reason it was a great shock for everyone to hear about his death on Fri­ day, May 11, 1885, in his cell in Brno's Monastery. Three days later, accom­ panied by more than 100 singers and severalthousand mourners, he was buried by a solemn ceremony in the new Central Cemetery in Brno, in the section reserved for the Augustinian Monastery. Křížkov­ ský's death painfully surprised all who knew him and were aware of his great contribution to the Czech music and of his dedication to the Czech heritage. His importance to the Czech music was stress­ ed by great Bedřich Smetana himself, who aceordíng to Otta's Encyclopedia said, that is was Křížkovský's excellent composition Utonulá (Drowned), which led him out of the hesitation how to com­ pose to the Czech text. The above state­ ment was meant as follows: Kfížkovský's exposure to the beginn­ ings of the Czech national awakening led him to an idea of independent Czech music, to the idea, which Smetana at that time had not yet considered. (Bedřich Smetana was since 1848 a teacher of music in Prague). As Otta's Encyclopedia says, Křížkovksý's choir compositions were a daily bread to at that time founded singing groups which in themselves were the beginning of the Czech musical artistry. The Dictionary of The Czech Music puts forth the following definition of this outstanding genius: Křížkovský, who grew up in the revolu­ tionary atmosphere of the renaissance romanticism, soared by the power of his creative ability high above the average Czech music at that time. Tak­ ing the melodical richness of Moravia's folksongs as the base, he created by a variation technique the top notch type of music of pre-Smetana's era. In this lies his artistic and resurrective signification, together with his founder's mission in the modem Czech music. While Křížkovský was still alive he was named an honorary member of many Czech singing and musical bodies and later the monuments - in Neplachovice in 1910 and in Brno in 1926 - were erected to his honor. The house where he was born was decorated by frescoes and the com­ memorative tablets to honor him were put · up in Brno (1910), in Olomouc (1933) and elsewhere. In 1945 a society of Pavel Křížkovský was founded in Opava for a purpose of the closer study of his work.

Křížkovský's activity during his overall stay in Brno from 1850 to 1872 could be divided into four parts: First: Composing Activity - By his untiring study of the old and new com­ posers and with the help of conductor Bohumír Rieger he created quite a few excellentmen's choir songs.

Second: Director of church music and reformer of the religious music ac­ tivities -He strived to play the music of the best conductors only. His authority brought forth the quality and the discipline in his choir group built from the elite Brno's circles, which felt honored to be able to perform under the direction of Křížkovský.

Third: Instrumental Music - He also devoted himself to the chamber music.

Although he masterfully played the organ, and piano, his popular instru­ ment was viola. Because of his love for music he formed a bow quartet, which played for charitable purposes. The great success of this body was a cause of bigger and bigger attendances, which resulted in the move from private accommodation of the count Sylva Tarouccy to Reduta, Brno's most popular public place. Needless to say that compliments of the French violin virtuoso Vieuxtemps and his play with this quartet helped to its fur­ ther success. When Bohumír Rieger could not, because of his age, continue to conduct anymore, Křížkovský glad­ ly took over also this task.

Lodge 142 Houston YC Activities Dear Readers, The youth dub of Lodge 142, Houston held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 25, 1986.

There were eight youth and three adults present.

We discussed having a play for our Lodge 142 Christmas party which will be held on December 19th at 7:30 p.m.

We also drew names to exchange gifts which will be exchanged that night.

We decided as our charity project tor the month, we will visit a local nursing home in which we will make '>0111\~ handmade ornaments to present to the residents of the home. We feel this will give them some extra Christmas cheer and happiness.

We will have a cake sale after our lodge meeting on Sunday, December 14th. Jason Hermis, John Buri, Tammy Patke and Keith Kieschnick will be bringing the pastries for our cake sale. December will be a very busy month for us..

Letters From The Youth Lodge 13 Dime Box YC Held Meeting On November 21, 1986 the Dime Box Youth Club held a meeting and sleepover. It began at 7 p.m. in the SPJST held.

The meeting was called to order by President Susan Spacek, and the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Matthew Ford, was recited by all.

The roll was called, and the secretary's minutes were read by Secretary Trudy Krenek. There was no treasurer's report due to the absence of the treasurer.

We decided on having a fund raiser, but the time and place has not been decided.

The meeting was then adjourned.

Everyone ate a supper of sandwiches and chips. We then watched movies.

The social for the month was going to Fame City on November 23rd.

We all are looking forward to Christmas. We drew names for our Christmas party exchange.

We will practice for our Christmas program at our December meeting.

Oddíl Dopisovatelů Tak Všelicos Anežka Houdková Minulý týden v pátek jsme zde v Dallasu měli na Sokolovně velmi krásný a zábavný večer, když zde byla ta hudba která sejmenuje "Podlužan" z té Moravy v Ceskoslovensku. Pro­ gram začal večer v sedm hodin a trval až do jedenácti hodin. Počasí bylo pěkné a tak se vše pěkně vydařilo. Hn­ ed od začátku to bylo pěkné a líbilo se všem kteří přišli je vyslechnout. Těch hudebníků bylo šest a tanečníku bylo pět mužů a pět mladých děvčat a opravdu tančili velice pěkně a potlesk velký potvrdil, že se to líbilo. Ten člověk který vedl vše tak se myslím jmenoval Janoš a ten pěkně promluvil k obecenstvu a pak pan Calvin Červenka zas to přeložil do angličtiny aby někteří přítomní tomu rozuměli, neboť nebyli českého původu, Ti tanečníci měli krásné kroje a během je­ jich vystoupení tak třikráte měnili kro­ je z Moravy, neboť myslím všichni byli z okolí Břeclavy, kde jsou krásné kro­ je. Jejich zpěv a tance též byly moc pěkné. Nejpěknější ze všeho bylo to ke konci kde děvčata měly ty krásné kroje z Podluží. Každá měla jinou barvu sukně a to se moc pěkně značilo a ty pentle které jim vlály od čepců-- to jistě bylo uchvacujícího. Mě se to moc líbilo a lituji, že nemohli přijet ještě jinam mezi naše krajany, aby poznali jak krásné a bohaté kroje měli tam na Moravě. Mluvila jsem s některými kteří byli škotského a irského původu a oni řekli, že nikdy tak něco pěkného neviděli a vyptávali se mě na leccos.

Tak jsem si vzpomněla, že za mých mladých let nebylo tehdy nic co jsme mohli ukázat a se pochlubit jako teď můžeme, a říci že žádná země nemá tak krásné a bohaté kroje jako stará vlast Československá. Jsme na to velmi hrdí, a přejeme těmto hudebníkům a tanečníkům vše dobré a mnoho štěstí nadále. Mějte se všichni dobře za ten požitek učiněn pro nás zde (kteří jsme potomci těch starých krajanů) a všem těm kteří se věnovali té snaze sem jich dostat z Československa, jsme jim velmi vděční. Děvčata a hoši z Moravy, kroje Vaše byly krásné a pěkně zdobené a děkujeme Vám za Vaše vystoupení a pobavení zde v našem Texasu.

Jsem ráda, že jsem je poznala ale lituji, že neměli více času aby mohli mě navštívit, kde bysme byli mohli pěkně si popovídat. Snad ještě někdy se uvidíme? Doufám, že ano!

Ten náš president má nyní velice, moc nesnází s tím, že se prodaly zbraně a různé věci tomu teroristskému Iránu.

On sice říká, že o tom nic nevěděl a že není' vinen s ničím, ale druzí ho zapletají a skrze to nyní FBI bude konat výslech a vyšetřování toho všeho. Kdožví, co vše se z toho vyklube. Mnozí znalci též řekli, že si s tím vším president hodně uškodil a asi je to pravda, ač jeden svádí chybu na toho druhého. Tak kdo má pravdu?

Pořád ještě mají nesnáze ti v Brownsville a San Benito kde ti ze Střední Ameriky se přechovávají když jsou nezákonití přistěhovalci, neb hodně je protestů skrze to, že je tam jich moc a ruší ty okolní lidi kteří bydlí blízko. Nyní mají ti přistěhovalci být přestěhovaní jinám a zase ti okolní lidé to též nechtí míti nablízku. Tam jsou v tom parku ti kteří mají domovy na kolech a chtí míti klid. Tak se neví, zda ta katolická diocese bude muset najít jiné místo pro svoje schráněnce aby byl pokoj. Těch nezakonitých je někdy až 70 a to je prý trochu moc lidí.

Také byla minulý tyden zpráva z Austrálie, že tam v městě Brisbane jistý člověk byl chycen policii, když držel pět gaolínových bombu s kterými chtěl zastřelit papeže, až ten by přijel tam. Říká se, že ten mladý člověk je pomatený a byl nedávno puštěn z in­ stituce kde jsou drženi ti, kteří nemají zdravý rozum. Ještě tedy se mohlo stát neštěstí třeba i jiným přítomným v městské radnici. Teď není nikdo jistý se svým živofem, že? On ten člověk prý řekl, že papež má moc peněz a že ho zabije za to.

V Menlo Park, Kalifornii žije jistá Lou Luhrmanová která se dožívá 105 let, a je prý nejstarší veterán První světové války, neboť byla ošetřovatelkou v době té války.

Narodila se v Německu v 1881 a když byla dvouletá tak přijela s rodiči do USA. Je prý dost zdravá a má se k světu dosti. Zase se stalo něco nedobrého když v Kalapana, Hawaii vybuchla sopka a docela úplně rozbila devět domovů. Ta láva a kameny, vrhly se na ty domovy a též vlila se do moře. Mnozí jsou celí pryč s tím neštěstím neboť jejich rodiče a pra-rodiče se zde narodili a tito muselí býti převezení jinám. Škoda bude, asi dosti velká. Kouř z té sopky byl prý vidět kolik míl na dálku. Vše co bylo v té horké lávě bylo zaženo a je to jistě nyní před svátky velmi zlé.

Jistý mluvčí Iránského parlamentu se vyslovil, že jestli Amerika chce vysvobodit zajaté občany Americké, tak že musí poslat více zbraní které by­ ly zaplaceny Iranem, a musí přestat vyhrožováním. Jinak že se nic nezmění. Ještě prý šest Američanů dosud nejsou vysvobození a jen tři byli puštění na svobodu. Tak je to pořád jaksi napjaté a kdožví, jak to bude?

Ve San Francisku 10 protestorů kteří obklopili obchod jenž prodává, kožešiny a nedovolili lidem se jít podívat na ty kože; byli policii donucení opustit místa před ob­ chodem. Pak zase osm jiných úplně zablokovali předek obchodu před ob­ chodem Macy's v Edison, Nový Jersey a ty též policie zatkla. Ti protestoři totiž nechtí dovolit aby se zabíjely zvířata a jejich kože pak se prodávaly, že je to špatný a zlomyslný skutek zabíjet zvěře jen pro lidský požitek.

Mnohé nemocnice ohlašovaly, že je velký nedostatek ošetřovatelek a leckde tyto nemocnice buďto dají větší plat anebo jiné výhody jen aby mohly získat potřebné pomocnice. Někteří si museli získat tyto ošetřovatelky až z Ir-

ska a odjinud. To ovšem vzalo práci těm zde a škodí to zdejším. Nyní prý mnohé mladé · ženy si zvolí jiné zaměstnání a pak ovšem není dost těch ošetřovatelek, kterých je pořád potřeba.

Ft. Worth, Texas oznamoval, že ob­ drželi povolení aby se postavila budova tam, která by byla použitá na vyrábění peněz někdy kolem 1990. Prý asi 200 dělníků bude se zaměstnávat a přinese to městu asi 100 milionů výtěžku.

Město prý slíbilo darovat 100 akrů pozemku, též vodu, ocele a zvelebení ulice. Budova by byla 288 tisíc čtverečních stop, má to prý být začaté v 1987 a v 1988 se budou tisknout peníze.

Posledně jsem se zmínila o tom, jak vandalové se vloupali do školy a vykradli co se dalo, a naposled školu zapálili-- škoda je jeden a půl milionů dolarů. Asi za tři dni policie zatkla 4 hochy - dva jsou plnoletí a dva jen 15 a 16 letí. Ti první jsou ve vězení a ti druzí byli dáni pod dozorem organizacím kteří je opatrují a vyslýchají. Myslím, ale že asi budou možná potrestaní nějak též. Řekli policii, že to udělali jen tak najednou když si na to vzpomněli.

Ale úřady tomu nevěří neboť jsou v podezření, že též byli zapletení v těch druhých dvou ohňů a krádeží. Jak jen to mohli tak udělat a poškodit něco jako školu, která je nutná pro vzděláni mladých lidí? Je to jistě velmi ošklivá věc a což ti rodiče jak se budou cítit když jejich synové takovou špatnost vyvedli? · Také nám bylo oznámeno, že minulý týden prý zvýšeno počet bylo těch studní vrtaných na olej o 42 více čili celkem v USA 952. A co se týče v Tex­ asu je prý nyní 327 jich kteří dobývají olej. Loni bylo tehdy 1945 a pak když cena oleje klesla, tak studny se přestaly vrtat. Též se myslí, že teď olej bude ne­ jvýše jen $18 dolarů-- třebaže všichni chtí více dostat za ten potřebný olej.

Doufejme, že po čase se to zlepší též.

Nedávno se prodávaly zlaté peníze a vkrátké době byly všechny vyprodané.

Nyní zase se začaly prodávat stříbrné dolary. Prý jich bylo vyrobeno skoro milion a půl těch, a vůbec nebylo jich dosti aby všichni mohli získat. Hodně se jich prodalo jako vánoční dárky a stojí prý asi $8.00. Těch zlatých snad se prodalo 800 tisíc během dvou dní, a těch stříbrných bude též dosti hodně.

Letecká společnost Delta prý přidá 101 více odletů pro Dallaský a Ft. Wor­ thský okrsek, takže lidé budou moci odlétet na mnohé místa a bude prý lépe moci vyhovět svým zákazníkům. Pro začátek ceny budou dosti nízká aby získali obchod. Některé společnosti letecké se spojili s druhými aby neměli tolik těch kteří by jím škodili na výdělku. · V Irving, Texas jistý párek lidí má obchod kde se prodávají drahé a zvláštní ptáci zvané "macaws" čili jistá odrůdá papoušku a jejich cena obnaší 15 tisíc za každého ptáka -- to je jistě velká cena za jednoho ptáka že ano? tyto ptáci jsou různě zbarvené =některé jsou fialové barvy, jiné zas červené a druhé zelené a modré. Co je divné, prý moc rádi mají maso a letos

majitelé jejich jim dopřáli maso z krocána které mají velice rádi. Také pry jedi. macaroni se sýrem a též pizza, a oni je ručně krmí. Mají prý 100 těch ptáku na ruce, kteří umí mluvit a v naší zemi je prý 50 až 60 tisíc takových všelikých ptáků. Tito manželé řekli, že během roku že prodaji za více jak milion dolarů. těchto ptáků. lidem kteří nesmí míti kočku neb psíka v apartmentech, ale otákv dovolí.

Letos bylo mnoho těch kostelů a též Armáda Spásy a jiné organizace které opravdu pracovali na tom, aby lidé bez práce, a bez domova měli dobrý oběd na Den Dikůvzdani ve čvrtek 27. listopadu. Sehnalo se velice moc peněz, jídla, hraček a šatstva pro potřebný lid.

Ti lidé lkteří neměli kde být tak se našly jim střediska ve kterých mohli se ubytovat aby nemuseli žít v autech na ulici. Jistá rodina mexická jménem Jiminez daruje každým rokem zdarma jídla všem co přijdou ve Ft. Worth, a letos měli 4400 lidí které oni nakrmili.

Armáda Spásy čili "Salvation Army" asi 1500 lidí měli dobrý oběd, a jistá organizace "Dallas Life Foundation" měla též oběd pro 1500 lidí. Také bap­ tiský sv. Pavla kostel a presbyterní kostel měli návštěvy lidí kteří potřebovali jídla. Asi 500 lidí se dobrovolně nabídlo pomoci podat a dobrovolně hladové, někteří též donášeli potřebné věci na ten oběd a též jistá paní hrála na piano a obveselovala přítomné lidi. Všichni si libovali jak moc pomoci bylo nabídnuto, a jak vše pěkně se vydařilo. Počasí též bylo pěkné a tak každý mohl se pěkně pobavit. Bylo to jistě vše dobré, že ano?

Ta zdejší černošská kolej "Bishop" pořád má nesnáze sehnat peníze na ty jejich dluhy, které obnáší kolik milionů dolarů. Jeden černoch chtěl koupit tu kolej, ale zase si to rozmyslel a tak to je pořád špatné.

Dnes jsem si vzpomněla, že ti naší "Podlužané" z té Moravy už v pátek 5. prosince odjedou zpět domů do Čsl.

Doufám, že se dobře pobavili mezi námi a nezapomenou na nás v Texasu.

Musím zde poděkovati panu Juliusu Podhradskému za to, že tak pracoval aby ti hudebníci a tanečníci mohli dostat povolení zavítat mezi nás v Americe. Také patří velké díky všem těm kteří poskytli přenocování těm hostům ve svém domově a sice-­ manželům Podhraským, Calvin Červenkovým, A. Vrlovým a též D. Dybalovým a všem o kterych nevím.

Hosté pak byli vzatí na projížďku městem a vzali je podívat se do te 17ti. poschoďové budovy "Reunion.

Tower" (a mě pak řekli, že nikdy v životě neviděli něco tak vysokého), pak byli pohostění v české pekárně pí.

Barbory Dybalové a také se byli podívat do řeznického obchodu Sid Pokladníka a myslím i jinám, a všude se měli dobře. Tedy viděli leccos a sešli se s lidmi kteří byli potomci prvních přistěhovalců do Texasu a mohli si s nimi pohovořit jejich stejnou řečí. Jistě budou vpomínat na vše.

Tak už máme prosinec a Vánoce jsou za dveřmi. U nás letos to bude

10. prosince 1986-VĚSTNÍK/13 smutné, neboť nám bude scházet bratr Vilém, který už skoro rok je na věčnosti. A 13. prosince bude tomu již 28 let co jsme ztratili naší drahou maminku. Je to vše smutné ale nedá se nic dělat-- jen vzpomínat na ně.

Pavel Křížkovský (1820-1885) Pokračování z minulého Věstníku

Úmrtí pavla Křížkovského otřáslo každým, kdo ho znal a byl si vědom jeho velkéhopřínosu jak k českéhudbě tak k českému národnímu uvědomění.

Velký význam Křížkovského pro českou hudbu ocenil, dle Ottova náučného slovníku, sám Bedřich Smetana, vyslovivse o "Utonulé", že teprve po jejím poslechu vyvedenbyl z rozpaků, jež strojila mu komposice českého slova. Tím je tu míněno následující: Křížkovský prodělal v čtyřicátých letech minulého století počátky národního probuzení jež vnukly mu myšlenku samostatné české hudby, o které ve zmíněnou dobu Smetana ještě neuvažoval. (Bedřich Smetana byl od roku 1848 učitelem hudby v Praze.) Křížkovskéhosborové skladby byly, jak říká Ottův náučný. slovník, denním chlebem tehdy zakládaných pěveckých spolků, ve kterých, před otevřením samostatného českého divadla, byly první začátky českých uměleckých snah. Slovník o české hudbě říká mimo jiné o Křížkov­ ském toto: Křížkovský vyrostl v ovzduší revolučního obrozeneckého romantismu a silou svého trůrčího ducha se vysoko povznesl nad průměr tehdejší české hudby. Na podkladě nápěvného bohatství moravské lidové písně vytvořil variační technikou vrcholný typ české sborové skladby v době předsmetanovské. V tom je jeho význam umělecký i vlasteneckobuditelský, jakož i jeho zakladatelské poslání v novodobé české hudbě. Již za svého života byl jmenován čestným členem mnoha českých pěveckých a hudebních spolků a byly mu vybudovány později pomníky. (V Neplachovicích v roce 1910, v Brně v roce 1926.)

Křížkovského rodný dům byl v roce 1935 vyzdoben freskami a na jeho počest byly zasazeny pamětní desky v Brně (1910), v Olomouci (1933) a jinde. K bližšímu poznání jeho díla byla v Opavě roku 1945 založena Společnost Pavla Křížkovského.

Křížkovského činnost během jeho celkověnepřetržitelnéhopobytu v Brně v letech 1850-1872se rozpadá na čtyři složky: 1. činnost skladatelská - za přispění divadelního kapelníka Bohumíra Riegra vytvořil neúnavným studiem skladeb starých i nových skladatelů řadu nádherných mužských sborů.

2. činnost jako ředitele chrámové hudby a reformátora cirkevníhudby zasazoval se, aby byla provozována hudba nejpřednějších skladatelů. Jeho autorita se jevila v kvalitě a kázni chóru sestavenéhoz brněnské hudební elity, která si pokládala za čest zpívat pod Křížkovským.

3. nástrojová hra - věnoval se i koncertní hudbě. Kromě mistrného ovládání varhan, kterým se vyrovnal nejpřednějším součastníkům a kromě ovládání klavíru a harmonia byla jeho zamilovaným nástrojem viola.

Seskupil kolem sebe hudební nadšence a provozovalidobročinné hudební pro­ dukce ve smyčcovém kvartetu. O velkých úspěších tohoto kvarteta svědčí úžasně stoupající návštěva, takže z privátních salonů hraběte Sylva

Tarouccy se šlo až do Reduty; k úspěchům pomohlo i uznání vynikajícího francouzského virtuoza na housle Vieuxtempse,který s velkou radostí vydržel hrát s kvartetisty po celý večer. Když kapelník Rieger nemohl již dirigovat, Křížkovský milerád se chopil i tohoto úkolu.

4. duchovníčinnost - byl svědomitý člen řehole, milým spolubratrem a mužem zlatého srdce. Miloval všechny a rovněž podporoval chudou matku a své dvě sestry, které žily u jeho strýce Jana.

Reduta, kde často působil Křížkovského smyčcový kvartet, se nachází v historickém jádru moravského hlavního města Brna.

Toto jádro je vymezeno ostrohem Petrova s dómem zvedajícím se nad zelení Denisových sadů. Na protilehlé straně tvoří hranici historického jádra města Brna parkový pás Koliště s monumentálními pomníky a s novým Janáčkovým divadlem. Nade vším pak ční uprostřed tohoto jádra ostrá jehla věžeměstskéhokostela svatého Jakuba a od měděnky zelená báň věže Staré radnice, odkud lze nejlépevidět, kde se dříve nacházel pás městských hradeb.

Podíváme-li se z věže Staré radnice směrem na svažitý Rybný trh, dnešní náměstí Družby národů, tak upoutá nás dvouvěžídominikánskéhokostelas galerií barokních soch na kamenné rampě. Tu v přilehlém klášteře ztrávil Pavel Křížkovský většinu svého času během jeho dlouholetého pobytu v Brně. Dominikánskou ulicí, vroubenou na jedné straně měšťanskými domy- mezi nimi vyniká Dům pánů z Kunštátu s krásným renesančnírrr nádvořím - a bývalým klášterem dominikánů na straně druhé, se dostaneme až k bývalým hradbám. Z vyhlídky na staroradniční věži lze průběh hradeb vymezitkláštery, kdysipřitisknutými k hradním zdem. Mimo již zmíněného kláštera augustiniánůje to klášter fran­ tiškánů, minoritský klášter a kapucínský klášter. Mohutná budova Reduty v brněnském historickémjádru vznikla ze 4 měšťanských domů.

Nárožní dům této skupiny patřil městu Brnu, které v prvním desítiletí XVII století jej upravilo a přestěhovalo sem svou městskou tavernu, kde se čepovala cizozemskávína. Později, ve stejném století, byla taverna rozšířena o sousední domy; pronajímaly se tu nyní též pokoje pro úředníky a přísedícízemskéhosněmu a soudu, a v sále se hrály divadla. Pro potřebí divadla byl vystavěnv letech 1731-32 v sousedství nový dům a v roce 1735 taverna dostala sloupový portál s balkónem, spolu s dvěma vázami a městským znakem. Po několika požárech - poslední z nich byl v roce 1870 - bylo průčelí barokní divadelní přístavby vyrovnáno se stavební čarou Reduty a sjednoceno architektonické členění fasády. Od roku 1918 se v Redutě opět konala pravidelná divadelní představení a po roce 1945 sem byla umístněna operetní scéna.

K vzpomínce na velkého Slezana Pavla Křížkovského je velmi vhodný výňatek z publikace Město v notách od Karla Tachovského, zabývající se též Leošem Janáčkem. Karel Tachovský sepsal následující: Brno mělo štěstí na temperamentní dirigenty. V první polovině XIX století zde působil Bohumír Rieger, který jednou v rozhořčení zvedl celý pult a chtěl ho vrhnout na basisty, kteří ujeli ve scher­ zu Beethovenovysymfonie. Ještě v 81 letech dirigoval s obrovským zaujetím.

A u tohoto vášnivého dirigenta se učil Pavel Křížkovský, jehož činnost znamená v historii hudebního Brna celou epochu. Dirigoval, hrál na violu, komponoval své nezapomenutelné sbory zakotvenév lidovépoesii. Založil

vlastně naši velkolepou tradici sborového zpěvu a stal se jedním z nejvýnamějších předsmetanovských skladatelů. Tento pokorný dělník hud­ by chápal svou práci jako skromnou a nenáročnou službu. Vše, co po něm zůstalo, dochovalo se více méně náhodou, skladby jen v opisech, protože Křížkovský krátce před smrtí spálil všechny své rukopisy, jelikož nevěřil, že by mohly mít nějaký význam---- Pavel Křížkovský byl. důvěrnýmpřítelem Janáčkova otce, jež byl o pět let starší, a tak se stal malý Leoš v září 1865, ve svých II letech, fundatistou starobrněnského klaštera.

Leoš Janáček (křtěn Leo Eugen) se narodil 3. července1854 v Hukvaldech pod zříceninou největšího moravského hradu Hukvaldy z druhé poloviny 14 století. Otcem budoucího hudebního skladatele byl řídící učitel a varhaník Jiří Janáček z Albrechtiček(1815-1866) a matkou Amálie, rozená Grulichováz Příbora (1819-1884).Leošůvpříjezddo Brna (po vychození obecné školy v rodných Hukvaldech) byl neveselý, odchází mu maminka a on zůstává sám mezicizímilidmi. "Modráčci'3 - fun­ datisté chodili ve světle modrých oblecích s bílým lemováním, sladce zpívali s kůru, ale byli to pořád mnohem víc kluci než nevinní andílci.

Janáček vzpomínal, jak trhali ovoce v klášterní zahradě a jejich regenschori Pavel Křížkovský je přitom přistihl.

Pak ho musili jeden po druhém volky nevolky minout a jak se v nich odehrála moll-stupnice. Za pár jablek v kapse - moll-stupnice ve všech oktávách. "Mne to plesklo po líci ne­ jvyšší oktávou," řekl Leoš Janáček.

Na svá modráčkovská léta vzpomíná Janáček v půvabném dechovémsextetu "Mládí", ale i v melancholickékantátě "Amarus," v tom zpěvu klášterní samoty a nedosažitelnélásky. - Už na kůru starobrněnského kláštera říkával Křížkovský, že "ten Janáček nám jed­ nou přeroste přes hlavu!" A Janáček už ve 22 letech zastupoval Křížkovského na kůru, učil hudbě na brněnských školách, od roku 1873 řídil sbor v řemeslnickémspolku Svatopluk, od roku 1876 vedl brněnskou Besedu, koncertoval a komponoval. V roce 1881 byl jmenován ředitelem nove varhanické školy, která byla zarodkem pozdější brněnské konservatoře.

Rovnýma nohami skočil do brněnského hudebního života a tím začíná jeho dlouholetý zápas o uznání.

Janáčkovo Brno - to byly zprvu jen klenuté chodby augustiniánského kláštera a každodenní cesta vzhůru Pekařskou ulicí; potom byl to učitelský ústav, kde psával dlouho do noci své první opery. Na denních cestách do varhanické školy procházel celým tehdejším Brnem. Tyto dlouhé procházky městem zůstaly Janáčkovi i později, když bydlil už v malém zahradním domku za starou konzer­ vatoří, kde je dnes umístněno Janáčkovo muzeum. Chodil po ulicích, tržištích, parcích a svět se mu měnil v tóny, které ihned načrtával do svých zápisníků. Vše, co slyšel- všechno se vešlo do rychle načrtnuté osnovy. Život - dle Janáčka - je jediný proud mnohotvárné hudby. Svou osobitou hudbou a svými osobitými skladbami vyjadřuje Janáček svou víru v život.

Hluboká životní víra vyzařuje z takřka všech komposicí tohoto pozdějšího největšího českého hudebního skladatele 20.století.

(Janáček měl sicehotova svá první díla již v devadesátých letech minulého století, ale uznání se domohl teprve o čtvrt století později.) Janáček vyrůstal zejména melodicky z vysloveně domácích kořenů, rozváděje nejednou až do skladeb nástrojových přirozenou zpěvnost rodného jazyka. Co se rytmu týče, zašel hluboko pod nános tvarů

ustálených na evropském západě až k bohatým zdrojům moravské a lašské lidové písně. Janáček, skladatel prostý harmonicky, ale kypícínápady, vyrostl zejména ve velkého dramatika.

Události Kristova utrpení jsou středem jeho "Glagolské mše," v níž ovšem zbylo pramálo z obvyklých liturgických tvarů. Legendárním vyprávěním je jeho nejstarší kantáta "Amarius," vášnivým dramatem z rodných Bezkyd''Na Soláni Čarták'' a strhujícím eposemjeho nejsilnějšísym­ fonické dílo "Taras Bulba". I cyklus písní "Zápisník zmizelého" zní žhavou baladou. A tím spíše naplňuje dramatický duch Janáčkovy opery, od první a nejznámější "Její pastorkyně" až po konečná díla velkého soustředění "Věc Makropulos" a "Z mrtvého domu," v kterých orchestr, vedený co nejjednodušeji a s láskou k barvám jednotlivých nástrojů, vystoupil opět do popředí. Z vedlejších Janáčkových prací je nutné vzpomenout zejména jeho "Moravských písní milostných"; z podobných soudobých skladeb, lépe snad zvanýchsbírek, se s nimi mohl jen měřit známý "Chodský zpěvník" jihočeského skladatele Jindřicha Jindřicha. - Leoš Janáček s vděčností vzpomínal na svého příznivcea učitele Pavla Křížkovskéhoa na své působení na kůru augustiniánského kostela sv.

Tomáše při klášteru tohoto řádu. V roce 1845, kdy Křížkovský se stal novicem zmíněného kláštera, byl tu fž dva roku členem řádu Řehoř (Gregor \ Mendel z Hynčic (Heizendorfu) Vt Slezsku, pozdější velmi významný vědec v oboru dědičnosti. Mendel, křesním jménem Jan, řeholním jménem Řehoř, začal v tomto klášteře v roce 1858 pokusy o dědičnosti, konanými na rostlinách a včelách, kterými později dokázal, že každý rodič přispívá ke vzniku nového jedince malými organickými jed­ notkami (geny), které se nemísí ani mezi sebou ani s jinými činiteli, ale uplatňují se podle zákona velkých čísel. Vědec Řehoř Mendel byl zvolen opatem kláštera v roce 1868, kdy do Brna přišel ve svých jedenácti letech jako fundatista starobrněnského augustiniánského kostela Leoš Janáček. Pavel Křížkovský se pro zákaz světské tvorby zabýval v tuto dobu pouze cirkevní hudbou.

Skladatel Moravy Leoš Janáček na straně jedné, Řehoř Mendel, vědec světové úrovně na straně druhé, učinili itarobrněnský klášter augustiniánů 'ýznamným střediskem jak české hud­ ,y tak české vědy.

Řád Slovanská Lípa č. 66, Waco čas utíká a práce pořád přibývá a pořád něco krátí můj čas a mojí sílu ale dnes jsem si umínil, že napíšu mojí zprávu za naši poslední schůzi.

Naši listopadovou schůzizahájil náš předseda bratr Ray Orsag za přítom­ nosti 64 členů; asi zůstali doma divat se na "football."

Všichni úředníci byli na svém místě jen sestra Bonnie Pruitt chyběla následkem onemocnění; doufáme, že už je zdráva neboť je velice dobrá ta­ jemnicé.

Povstali jsme měli tichou chvilkou, za sestru Julia Andrle, která odešla do toho neznáma a přejemejí zemilehkou a čestjejí památce. Bylačlenkou 50let.

Sestra Cory Pruitt přečetla zápisky z minulé schůze, které byly přijaté tak, jak byly napsané. Dále přečetla několik

Byl čten protokol z minulé schuze a byl přijat tak, jak napsán. Dále sestra Darlene Engelke přečetla dopis od našeho predsedy, ve kterém děkoval za návštěvy a jiné pomoci za ten čas jeho operace, ale ve schůzi vypadal dobře, čehož mu od srdce přejeme.

Bratr předseda podal šek na $100 sestře Libby Parma do jejího "Trust Fund."

Sestra Ruby Orsag, předsedkyně zabavního výbora, nám řekla, že naše vánoční večeře bude 6. prosince a ťi co budou péct krocany aby si pro ně přišli 3. prosince. Dále nám pověděla, že budeme dávat nové svetla do naší síně a že by to byl dobrý skutek kdyby členové darovali jedno nebo více světel na památku jejích odešlých d~hých a títo.členi darovali peníze na zakoupeni těchto světel -- sestry Jeanette Smith, Jewel Warhol, Libby Parma, Gloria Locke, Leona Nors, George a Sue Pauling, Joe a Cory Pruitt, Arthur a Mary Alice Langlotz, Ira Niswanger, Irene a Charlie Mueller, Henry West, Frank Kofnovec a Leslie a Glenna Dungan. Tak jestli bude dost času budeme osvětlení na vánoce. Možná, že i na naší vánoční večeři.

Naše ředitelka mládeže nám pověděla, že mládež bude mít jejich vánoční večeři 18. prosince začátkem 7 hodin večer a žádala mládež aby přinesli dary pro hochy a děvčata aby sloužil hochům i holkám. Mládež taky darovali $50 do Libby Parma "Trust Fund." Mládež také přinese krásný program.

Sestra Jeanette Smith nám řekla, že náš "Fraternal Fund" může darovat $700 a dary byly udělané v prospěch těchto -- Caritas, Donna Knepstein, Chris Spence, Abused Children, Richard Kenna a Salvation Army.

Za nemocenský výbor podala zprávu sestra Leona Nors, že poslala pozdravní karty těmto -- Emily Kolenovský, Ray Orsag, Jerry Kucera a Eugene Smajstrla a soustrastnou -­ rodině Steve Andrle a gratulační p. a pí. David Kofnovec.

Pak jsme přikročili k volbě úředníků a jsme zvolili tyto -- předsedu - George Pauling, místopředsedu - Mary Alice Langlotz, tajemnici - Bonnie Pruitt, finanční tajemnici - Darlene Engelke, vedoucí mládeže - Gladys Yates, anglickou dopisovatelku - Dorothy Warren, českého dopisovatele - Otto Hanuš ( mojí maličkost), průvodci Tommy Forbes a dozorci byli zvoleni -­ Jeanette Smith, Ira Niswanger, Daniel Nors, Jim Locke, Frank Kofnovec, George Shilling, George Pavlíček, Ray Orsag a Joe Pruitt; tak budeme mít zase dobrý sbor dozorců.

Narozeniny měli tito -- Mary Alice Langlotz, Georgia Pavlíček, Pattie Nesloney, Donna Stanislav, Daniel Nors, Frank Parma, Henry West, Jim Locke a George Pauling; zazpívali jsme jim "Happy Birthday".

Než to dokončím tak přejeme každému členu a člence ty nejkrásnější Vánoce a šťastný Nový rok 1987.

Prepositions with the Accusative Case Dopis. Semestr končí a studenti mají krátké prázdniny. Můj kamarád Karel Novák proto není v Praze v koleji, ale doma v Brně. Dnes mu píši dopis.

Nejdříve kupuji v papírnictví dopisní papír a obálky. Doma potom beru jeden dopisní papír a začínám: Milý Karle, ... Píši mu, co celý den dělám, že chodím na dlouhé procházky a večer na hezké koncerty nebo na zajímavé filmy. Nakonec beru obálku a píši na ni adresu: Vážený pan Karel Novák Habrová 22 602 00 Brno 2 Dávám dopis dovnitř a jdu na poštu.

Na poště kupuji jednu šedesátihaléřovou známku, dávám ji na dopis a ten házím do schránky.

Vlivem populační vlny v 70. letech stoupne v osmé pětiletce (1986-1990) počet žáků přijímaných na československé střední školy. Pokud jde o střední odborná učiliště, má být v roce 1990 přijato v ČSR do prvních ročníků učebních a studijních oborů 113 740 žáků, z toho do studijních oborů 19,240 žáků. Ve srovnání s posledním rokem 7. pětiletky (1981-1985) je to zvýšení o více než 20,000 žáků, z toho do studijních oborů o více než 9000. Nejvíce žáků se bude připravovat na dělnická povolání ve středních odborných učilištích v resortech ministerstva průmyslu ČSR, ministerstva zemědělství a výživy ČSR, federálního ministerstva hutnictví a těžkého strojírenství a federálního ministerstva všeobecného strojírenství.

Na začátku tohoto školního roku, tj. k 1. září 1985, bylo v ČSR 629 středních odborných učilišť, z toho 608 komplexních, 21 učiliště zajišťující teoretické vyučování a 158 střediska praktického vyučování. V 8. pětiletce bude v ČSR otevřeno dalších 50 středních odborných učilišť. Přibude tím 1270 učeben a 22,770 míst v domovech mládeže. Pokud jde o pedagogické pracovníky, zvýší se jejich počty na středních odborných učilištích v roce 1990 o 2826 mistrů odborné výchovy, 1426 vychovatelů a 2903 učitele. V této pětiletce bude věnována zvýšená pozornost kvalifikační struktuře pedagogických pracovníků a vychovatelů v domovech mládeže. (ró)

Nově při pěstování jehličňanů V Semenář sko-šl echt itelskérn závodu Státních lesů v Liptovském Hrádku (Liptovský Hrádek) na severním Slovensku vyvinuli progresívní technologii pěstování jehličňanů.

Semena jehličňanů se nalepují v pravidelných vzdálenostech na speciální papír. Ve školkách pak papír s nalepenými semínky položí na připravený substrát a přikryjí další vrstvou zeminy. Tento postup navrhli ve Výzkumném ústavu lesního hospodářství ve Zvolen-u a jeho výhodou je téměř stoprocentní ujímání se mladých porostů. (rě)

Pošty v ČSSR Pošty v ČSSR přepravují a dodávají za jediný den pět miliónů listovních zásilek a 100,000 balíků. Významné postavení zaujímají rovněž v peněžním styku obyvatelstva i organizací. Počet vkladů a výplat na 100 obyvatel nyní dosahuje 2537 operací ročně. Pošty rovněž vyplácejí každý měsíc více než tři milióny korun důchodů a vybírají od 5,5 milionu plátců soustředěné in­ kaso. Stříbro na jihu Čech Zhruba před čtyřmi sty lety měla obec Rudolfov na jihu Čech více obyvatel, než sousední české Budějovice, dnešní krajské město.

Bylo to díky těžbě stříbra, které je v této oblasti známo už od roku 1522. V době rozmachu těžby tady pracovalo na 500 lidí a vodu ze čtyř dolů vytahovalo na povrch pomocí. primitivního soustrojí 94 koní. Ložiska rudy se však postupně vyčerpala. V poslední době se výskyt stříbra v Rudolfovském rudném pásmu stal opět předmětem zájmu geologů, kteří .před­ pokládají, že pomocí moderní techniky pro průzkum spodních vrstev země mohou odhalit zbytky hornin vzácných kovů pro nové využití. Báňské školství Československé báňské školství, reprezentované v současnosti zejména Vysokou školou báňskou v Ostravě na severní Moravě, má již téměř dvěstěsedmdesátiletou tradici. Roku 1716 byla v Jáchymov-ě v severních Čechách založena "horní škola", první svého druhu na evropském konti­ nentě. Otevření této školy se v praxi projevilo v obnovení důlních prací v dnešních severočeských revírech. A tak není divu, že se báňské školství rychle rozšiřovalo. V roce 1763 byla zavedena na Univerzitě Karlově v Praze katedra montanistiky, nauky o hornictví, se . čtyřletým studiem. V tomto směru mají Čechy dokonce světový primát.
