Daniel and the king's food AKEEL Bible text: Daniel 1: 1-21

Hi Friends,

In this story, we will see how Daniel and his friends obeyed God by not eating the king's food.

Taken to Babylon

One day King Nebuchadnezzar's army came and captured many of God's people and took them to Babylon. Among those captured were Daniel and his three friends. These young men loved the Lord and obeyed his laws, including those rules about which foods they could and could not eat. The King chose Daniel, his friends and other young men to be his helpers in the palace. They had to learn the laws of Babylon and the chief of the eunuchs gave them new names Daniel was called Belteshazzar. Hananiah was called Shadrach. Mishael was called Meshach. Azariah was called Abednego.

Given the king's food

The king assigned them a daily portion of food from his table. Daniel and his friends knew that the king’s food was food that God disallowed. So he asked the chief of the eunuchs not to give them the king’s food. He liked Daniel and his friends but was afraid that the king would get mad at him for not giving them the food. Daniel came up with an idea. He told the steward to let him and his friends eat only vegetables and water for ten days. And at the end of the ten days, check to see if they looked as healthy as all the other young men.

At the end of the ten days, the steward noticed that Daniel and his friends were healthier than all the other young men at the palace. He then allowed them to eat the food that God allowed instead of the King’s food.

God blessed Daniel and his friend's obedience

At the end of the time, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before the king f the king spoke with them, and among all of them, none was found like Daniel and his friends. They were wise and intelligent and ten times better than all the magicians and wise men in the entire kingdom. Even though they were far from home, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego kept obeying God’s law And God blessed them and took care of them. They became wise men in the king’s court. The Golden Image BETH Daniel 3:1-30

Hi Guys, This story shows how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego obeyed God by not bowing to the golden idol.

The Idol King Nebuchadnezzar made a huge golden idol and told the people “ when they hear the music everyone must bow down to the Idol. Anyone who does not bow down will be thrown into a blazing furnace. Amongst the people were Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who had become leaders in the land of Babylon. They believed in and worshiped the true God, and did not bow down to the idol.

Placed In the Furnace

So they brought these men before the king. They told the king, “Our God will deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and even if He doesn’t deliver us, O king, we still will not worship the golden image which you have set up.” The king asked that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual. He then tied them up and threw them into the furnace. The fire was so hot; the heat killed the men who threw them in.

God in the Furnace

When the king looked into the furnace, he was surprised. The men were untied and walking around with a fourth person in the fire with them! He asked, “Didn’t we throw three men in the fire? I see four men loose, walking around, and they are not hurt.” The fourth person looked like the Son of God. The king called their names and ordered them to come out of the fire. When they came out they were not hurt at all, neither did they smell like smoke. The king made a law that everyone must worship the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and he promoted them to even higher positions in the province of Babylon.

Daniel in the lion's den

LUKE

Daniel 6:1-28

Daniel Promoted

Hi, my friends In this story, Daniel continued to worship God even though it meant being thrown into the lion's den.

Darius was the new king of Babylon. He chose 120 men to help him rule over the provinces. The king also chose Daniel and two other officials to watch over the high officers and protect the king’s interests. Because of Daniel’s great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire. The other leaders were jealous. They began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling the king’s affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn him.

The Jealous leaders

The jealous leaders knew there was only one way they could trap Daniel. For nothing could stop him from worshipping the God of Israel. Daniel’s enemies came up with a plan. They made a new law for the king to sign. The law said everyone must pray only to King Darius. The person who disobeys will be thrown into a den of lions. The king signed the new law. This law did not stop Daniel from praying three times a day to his God. The jealous leaders rush to tell king Darius that Daniel has broken the law. Darius had no choice but to arrest Daniel. He tried but could not change the law. Before Daniel was thrown into the lion's den.

God Protected Daniel Darius told Daniel your God, whom you serve continually, will protect you. The king spent the night fasting and did not sleep that night. Early the next morning the king rushed to the lion’s den and shouted "Daniel has your God, whom you served continually saved you." Daniel replied, "my God sent his angels to shut the lion’s mouth." The king was happy and ordered that Daniel be lifted out from the den. Nothing happened to Daniel while he was in the Den, for he trusted God, The king ordered the arrest of the men who accused Daniel. They and their families were thrown into the den. And the lions ate them. The king decree that everyone must worship the God of Daniel.
