COMMENTARIES ON LORI WILLIAMS
Lori Williams writes about ordinary everyday living in a most extraordinary way. It is nearly impossible not to identify with her words because she lives in her words – inviting the reader to enter the moments she so vividly captures. In her authentic, unique and richly flavored voice, Lori presents the world as she experiences it, holding nothing back. No smoke and mirrors here. Her poetry is crystal clear, well-paced and pitch-perfect. Lori writes with empathy, tenderness and always with heart.
- BARBARA MOORE
There are storytellers who write badass stories and then there are storytellers who write badass poems. Williams is one such poet who can whip up a mean storyline and tell it in poetic form. James Salter, in free verse. This seeming ambidexterity is undeniable and it is making her voice in the community all the more creditably outstanding as far as blurring the line between fiction and poetry. In essence, Williams poetry brings to the fore yet again the existentialist question – If man is inherently good, who is responsible for his sufferings? She pines for freedom from grime and pain. The world can only do so much by killing her with too much of that. Or love.
