EDITORIAL Venting Re. In. Vented. It is with such great pleasure that we introduce to you not Sgt. Pepper‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band but our spanking new publication – Spiracle Journal – as important to us as the aforementioned album must have been to the Beatles. Much of our excitement stems from the idea of creating a different kind of journal than the ones we are used to seeing – something alive and kicking. There are several tiers to our endeavor – the website itself, the actual journal and a Facebook group. On the website itself, we co-editors – Wrexie Bardaglio, Emeniano Acain Somoza, Jr. and Barbara Moore – keep a running journal of our thoughts and observations in the form of prose as well as poetry. We invite you all to join us as members and follow our activities – enriching our journal entries by adding on to them in the comment areas provided. This brings us to the publication itself – Spiracle Journal. You may be wondering how we chose our name? It was originally the brainstorm of Emeniano, as was the initial concept for the journal. To use his words ―I wanted something clinical and scientific to ―metaphorize‖ the all too obvious breathing problem of the creative collective.‖ Since a spiracle is a respiratory aperture, the name fit. There is intense pressure in the daily lives of us all. That is a given. We have been chagrined to see that so many writing forums and threaded discussions seem tired and worn-down, casualties of our times. We recognized some fantastic and unique voices raging above the din, but they alone were hard pressed to breathe life back into the collective psyche of the everyday poet. The editors of Spiracle Journal believe there has to be a go-to place for venting.
