Chinese New Year Party - Birmingham

Date: Saturday 1st February 2014 Place: Chung Ying Gardens, Thorpe Street (B5 4AT) at7.30pm Cost: £32 Member, £35 Guest This is always a really popular night, and the feedback we get is brilliant! This year the New st Year falls on Friday 31 January, so we’ll 'bringing it in' tonight! 2014 is the Year of The Horse – so come along for the ride! As usual we will take over the top floor of this excellent restaurant right in Birmingham's Chinese Quarter which is well known for its excellent authentic Cantonese food and lively staff. Eating Cantonese style, the tables will be laden with mouth-watering specialities

Illuminate Bath Festival and Supper

Date: Saturday 1st February 2014 Place: 1 Terrace Walk, North Parade, Bath (BA1 1LY) The Huntsman at 6pm Cost: £16 Member, £18 Guest Includes: Walk - Illuminate Bath Festival, 1 Course Meal, Service, Spice Host Join Spice tonight as we explore Illuminate Bath, a festival that transforms the city’s streets. Now in its third year, this festival brings beautiful and engaging projected artworks to the city centre. Banishing the gloom of January’s long evenings, this ‘festival of light’ will include a number of original installations in public spaces, all of which can be explored. The lighting and visual effects are scattered around the Bath city centre in the area around the Roman Baths, Bath Street, Stall Street, Abbey Church Yard and Kingston Parade. We’ll meet at the Huntsman first and have a drink together and will then set off to see the artworks. After our walk, we’ll head back to the Huntsman for a delicious 1 course meal.

Saturday Night Comedy at Jongleurs Bristol

Date: Saturday 1st February 2014 Place: The Cuban, Harbourside, Bristol BS1 5SZ Jongleurs Comedy Club - Main Entrance 7:30pm Cost: £27.50 Member Ticket + supper, £29.50 Guest Ticket + supper, £18 Member Ticket only Tonight we’re off to Jongleurs in Bristol, located in the best new bar and live entertainment venue in town, The Cuban! Each show features a Compere who will host your evening, and they introduce 3 top acts who will do their finest to make you laugh. The shows sometimes include open spots - a chance to see brand new talent trying out for the first time on a professional stage. All the seating is allocated so no fighting for the good views, tasty bar food is available before the show and the Cuban Bar next door is perfect for after work beers and pre-show cocktails as well as late night drinks after the show.

Pirate Pete Walking Tour, Tea + Cake -Bristol

Date: Sunday 2nd February 2014 Place: Black Beetle Statue, Anchor Square (BS1 5LL) Spice Sign & Pirate Flag from 1:45pm to 3pm Cost: £17.50 Member, £19.50 Guest. Includes: Guided Pirate Walk, Booking, Tea/Coffee & Light Snack, Service, Join Spice and Pirate Pete today as we go for a walking tour of Bristol’s Maritime History around the Harbour side. We’ll discover Long John Silver’s treasure chest in the smugglers cave, visit Treasure Island’s Spy Glass Inn where the press gangs roamed and find Blackbeards Lair in the medieval port. It’s a pleasant walk around the quays, discovering Bristol's turbulent history, at the harbour side haunts of the pirates and swashbucklers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Fun, interesting and educational, it is convenient entertainment with a bit of history thrown in! Sure to make you laugh and cry, learn and yet have fun, Pete’s walk around Bristol is a treat for any scallywag! After our walk, we’re off to V-Shed, a local JD Weatherspoons for some coffee or tea and a light snack of either the savoury or sweet persuasion (included in the price).

Segway Trekking in Caerphilly

Date: Sunday 2nd February 2014 Place: Mountain View Ranch, Heol Penybryn, Caerphilly, Gwent (CF83 1NG) Time: 10:45am Cost: £25 Member, £27 Guest Includes: 1 Hour Segway Experience, Spice Host The Segway is the latest weird and wonderful must try gadget. It’s a 2 wheeled defier of logic and today we’re going to give them a go! Powered by electric motors and gyros you simply stand on it and away you go. It may not look much but you're guaranteed to have the Segway smile during and after your ride. We’ll first get to grips with these two wheeled wonders in a 15 minute training session and will then hit the rough stuff as the experienced ranchers take you up hills, over streams and whatever stand in your way on these amazing off road machines! This is a driving experience you’re bound to love! We advise all participants to wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions and which they do not mind getting damaged. Personal protective equipment will be worn for most activities and wearing appropriate clothing will make this a more comfortable experience.
