SPE GULF COAST SECTION

APRIL 2020

COVID-19 Update

CHAIR’S CORNER

Gabrielle Morrow 2019-2020 SPE-GCS Chair A VIRTUAL GCS On behalf of the Gulf Coast Section volunteers and the Board of Directors, I want to first thank our local volunteers for all of their hard work over the year. We rely heavily on these volunteers to host our technical and networking events every month. With the new Covid-19 threat we all face, hosting events in person has been suspended for the near term future. However, our volunteers still manage to drive our Gulf Coast Section forward in any way they possibly can. They always find a way. With the new mandate to ‘Stay Home, Work Safe’ from the Harris County judge, the Gulf Coast Section has adjusted our education to a virtual platform. We are currently offering select webinars with the same high caliber of speakers that you expect to see from the Gulf Coast Section. Below is a list of upcoming topics that our volunteers have put together, as well as the registration information you need. I hope that everyone in the Greater Houston area is taking the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe and healthy while we navigate through this pandemic. Please be careful, but also remember to be caring. Until next month, Gabrielle Morrow SPE-GCS Chair

A NOTE FROM SPE DISTINGUISED LECTURER PROGRAM

In response to COVID-19, SPE has added current Distinguished Lecturer (DL) Webinars for the first time. This will allow the mission of the DL Program, to disseminate technical information with outstanding speakers who are experts in their field, to continue virtually during the pandemic. SPE members all over the globe can join DL webinar presentations in their location. These webinars can be viewed by SPE members for free, Live or On-Demand from a computer or a smart phone. Please go HERE to register (webevents.spe.org/distinguished-lecturer) and feel free to share with SPE-GCS members. We will be scheduling additional webinars over the next few weeks, so please check the schedule often. We hope you and your family are able to stay safe and well and appreciate your support of SPE and the DL Program. With kind regards, The SPE Distinguished Lecturer Program DL@spe.org
