Orchestra

Grades 6-8 with previous orchestra experience. Don’t let your instrument collect dust all summer – perform music with students from other schools in a fun and rewarding learning environment. Students will perform music as a full orchestra, have likeinstrument sectional rehearsals, and study music theory. We will perform a short concert at the end of the week. Instructor: E. Sew Your Own Pajama Pants

For ages 13-18. Learn to read, cut out a pattern and make your own pajama pants. Please bring to the first day of class: pattern, fabric (flannel or cotton), scissors, straight pins, thread and elastic. Suggested patterns to choose from: Simplicity 2481, 2771, 2823, 3577 or 5271. Youth and Teen Programs

Grades 6-12. Triathlons are a great way to build strength and confidence! We will create training plans, work on conditioning, practice transitions, learn about equipment and train for swimming, biking and running. The last day, we will do a mini-indoor sprint triathlon. All abilities are welcome, but you must be able to swim one full lap without stopping. Instructor: B. Summer 2011

Grades 6-9. Learn music from Ghana on authentic Ghanaian instruments, including: kpanlogos (drums), adenkum (gourds) and gyil (xylophones). Express yourself through rhythm and sound. Writing a College Essay

Vocal Music and Opera

Grades 6-12. Build your vocal music abilities working in the Bel-Canto voice method. With this technique you will not need a microphone; you will be able to create a sound that carries and does not strain your vocal cords. All levels of singers will learn to build their vocal instrument and increase stamina, range and volume. Instructor: A.
