CHAMBER FOCUS Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays From Your Chamber It's that time of year where we think about all the things we have to be thankful for, to celebrate our shared successes and to reflect upon the previous year. For the Chamber, it has been an exciting year of steady growth and improving economic climate for all of our member businesses and organizations. We are extraordinarily grateful to partner with all of our members in making the Spartanburg area absolutely the best place to live, work and do business. We would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who dropped by the Member Holiday Social on Thursday, December 12th at the Chamber. It was our opportunity to say “Thank You” for allowing us to serve you throughout the year. This event, like all Chamber events, would not be possible without the generosity of sponsors. Thanks to Budweiser of Spartanburg, Inc., Costco Wholesale, Spartanburg Coca-Cola Bottling, General Wholesale, Ingles, Jason's Deli, Outback Steakhouse, The Piedmont Club and Wild Wings for sponsoring this event.

Spartanburg Young Professionals Prepare for Exciting Year Ahead The Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) group of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to connecting its members to the Upstate business community. According to Liz Richardson, SYP Chair for 2014, “We connect our members in several ways, such as our First Thursday Social, which is held the first Thursday of each month at a local Spartanburg area business. Again this year, we will have our SYP and Shuck event which brings everyone together with live music and food—an event that has proven to be very successful in years past. SYP will still be hosting a myriad of Lunch and Learns, Vision Cafe's and Town Hall events; with these meetings the members learn how to help their business grow as an individual and learn what is happening in our community.” SYP is very excited to announce new ways to get involved in 2014. Starting with 'SYP into Action'—SYP will be looking for ways to get more involved in the community through volunteering, beautification projects and community events. The first event has already been scheduled and more are being planned. Another new program will be a fun way to meet new people in Spartanburg; SYP is forming their own version of a meetup group. Every other month on a Saturday, they will host events such as kayaking, hiking trips, tailgates, trips to the Farmer's Market and bowling. Richardson says, “2014 is going to be a great year for Spartanburg Young Professionals and we hope that you will be able to join us at our events!”
