Economic Forecast Breakfast provides local and national perspectives On Friday, February 8, 2013, the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual Economic Forecast Breakfast for a sell-out crowd at USC Upstate. The event featured a look at the local and national economies. Insights from local business and community leaders representing twelve sectors of the economy were gathered in early January. Results from the local sector groups indicate an optimistic outlook for the economy of the Spartanburg region. The breakfast also featured Wells Fargo economist Tim Quinlan as the guest speaker. Quinlan provided analysis and commentary on U.S. business spending and economy in contrast to Spartanburg and South Carolina. The Chamber wishes to thank the sponsors that made the event possible. Spartanburg Healthcare Network Dr. Paul Switzer, III, M.D., D.H.A., Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Chair of the Discipline of Psychiatry at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine was the guest speaker at the February meeting of the Spartanburg Healthcare Network. Dr. Switzer provided the group with an overview of VCOM - The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - in Spartanburg. Chamber to offer email and social media workshops The Chamber will be offering an afternoon of marketing workshops on Wednesday, February 20th, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce. The series will be presented by Anissa Starnes, Regional Development Director, Constant Contact. The Power of Email Marketing session will provide an overview of how email marketing works and useful email marketing tips, strategies and techniques. Topics covered during the session will include: an understanding of what email marketing is and why and how it works; components of an effective email marketing campaign; how email marketing can meet your needs; case studies of successful email marketing campaigns; and the best practices and tips of email marketing. The Social Media Marketing Made Simple session, we introduce strategies and best practices needed to get the most out of social media, including: time management, measuring the return of your activities, and learning the essential elements of growing business using the power of social media marketing. Topics during this session will include: learning about what social media marketing really is; how to incorporate social media into a business without losing productivity; and real-life examples of how other businesses are using these low-cost tools to gain visibility, develop relationships and drive sales and response. All information provided can be applied regardless of the system or service you are using for email marketing. The workshops are free for Chamber Members and $25 for non-members.
