THE FLAME FESTIVAL
The four women of Las Migas come from four different cities spanning not only the geography of Spain, but also its cultural diversity–Barcelona, Sevilla, Cordoba and Lerida. They all came to the group with one common passion: Flamenco. Latin rhythms gave the music a happier, more upbeat sound. And a sensitive side began to emerge with beautiful ballads as the dance became more interpretive and free-flowing. The new Las Migas style was established, and has since thrived.
This year’s edition of The Flame Festival features the work of Rebeca Vallejo and Chano Dominguez. The continuous evolution of Jazz music through blending with all kinds of world music sounds has touched upon the traditions and roots of Flamenco music. Although there are several venues and outlets which show the most traditional forms of Flamenco, The Flame Festival is the only platform in the U.S. to allow this new hybrid of musical fusion to blossom, permitting local audiences to discover and enjoy this ever-growing genre while building strong cultural bridges.
