The 16th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival will showcase internationally renowned Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafón. One of the best-read authors in contemporary Spanish literature, Ruiz Zafón began his literary career in 1993 with The Prince of Mist (Edebé Prize), which was followed by The Midnight Palace, Septem ber Lights (available in one volume as The Mist Trilogy) and Marina. In 2001 he published his first novel for adults, The Shadow of the Wind, which soon became an international literary phenomenon and continues to fascinate readers across the globe 15 years after its publication. In addition to his National Book Festival appearance, Carlos Ruiz Zafón will present his literary and musical works at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain in Washington, DC.
In the United States to promote Vampire in Love, an anthology of short stories, Spanish author Enrique Vila-Matas will take the northeast by storm, stopping in Boston, New York and Princeton. The collection includes works spanning the duration of the author’s career. Selected and translated by renowned translator Margaret Jull Costa, the stories feature Vila-Matas’s signature wit and provocative questioning of the interrelation of art and life.
