Homegrown Flavours

The Puntry does ice-cream and does it well. Flavours run the gamut from classic to downright nostalgic and because this is an artisanal outfit, it’s advisable to always check their Facebook page for what flavours are available. This is a casual space where you go for at least two scoops of ice-cream – ‘Rum, Raisin, Rum’ and ‘Chocolate Vegannings’ are crowd pleasers – and then bring a few tubs home. The menu is divided into Classics and Specials, with the latter offering unique flavour combinations like ‘Lap-is In The Air’ (kuih lapis) and ‘Rabbit & Turtle’ (White Rabbit cereal). There is a small savoury and sweet menu, where waffles and pancakes come with either fried chicken or ice-cream. Bonus points for the clever puns! Blurring The Lines

For those of you who are old enough to remember, British indie rock band Blur had a hit in 1994 called Parklife. Suitably, Chef Ling is the co-founder and head of the kitchen at this Bangsar South eatery and yes, Parklife is partly inspired by the song and by London’s Hyde Park. The focus of the menu here is Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours, top quality ingredients and the kind of feel-good dishes that appeals to everyone no matter what their dietary preferences are. From innovative salads using wholesome ingredients like organic quinoa, pumpkin, beetroot and chickpeas, to tempting desserts (the signature carrot cake is a must), Parklife’s ideology is to feed everyone.
