Normandy Diary: The 2011 Normandy Diary is available now. It costs £3.95' £1 of which is donated to the Spirit of Normandy Trust. In my opinion this diary is essential for every Normandy Veteran as it contains so much useful information such as maps of the Assault Beaches and German Coastal Defensive positions, the Commonwealth War Cemeteries in Calvados Normandy plus full listing of the NVA Branch Commemorations and Memorials. You may order through Sarah or direct from Award Productions. If you order through Sarah enclose the cost of the diary. We will order in block and distribute accordingly. Monthly social meetings: Are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Royal British Legion Centre, Aylsham Rd, Norwich, 11am for 11.30am start. Come along to meet and chat, tea and coffee provided and take part in the raffle (proceeds to Branch funds). Future Meetings to be held on Wednesday 10th November 2010. There is no Social meeting in December. 67th Anniversary Lapel Badges: Lapel badges for the 67th Anniversary year have been ordered and are expected to be very popular. Therefore, if you want one, reserve your badge(s) now by contacting George Holmes, 01493 858319. Cost is £2.00 to members, £3.00 to non-members, plus 50p postage. It is intended that badges will be produced for each successive year, up to the 70th anniversary. The Annual General Meeting of the Normandy Veterans Association: Took place on Saturday 28th August last where the future policy of the Association was debated. This was a very important meeting the outcome of which affects all members. What we know to date is that owing to an anomaly the meeting has to be called again. We will let you know further when we know. Collections: We have a number of collections booked for the coming year. Collectors are always needed. If you are interested contact Sarah McAllister and she will let you know the form. Next year part of the amount collected will go towards payment of the insurance of the veterans traveling to Normandy, how much will depend on how much is collected. Schools initiative: There are three schools in the pipeline viz. Gisleham Primary, Docking Primary and George White Junior. There is still a need for volunteers to visit schools in the County to tell their stories. If you would like to be involved, contact Sarah McAllister.
Subscriptions: If you have received a separate notification with this edition of Normandy Star News informing you that your subscriptions are overdue, please pay your dues ASAP to Sarah McAllister. Costs are £5 per person, £10 per couple. Normandy Star: There will be an issue of the Normandy Star before the end of the year. If you haven't already told your stories of what happened to you during the Normandy campaign it is not too late. You are living history, only you can tell it as it was, don't let the opportunity go away. It is time to get the younger members of your families involved. Tell your stories to them, they can record them for you and you can let Paul McAllister have them. Regardless what anybody says, there is a great deal of interest in your stories and it will continue to grow.
