Last Monday, Quiz Bowl sponsor Josh Adams received an unknown cell phone call at lunch. Tuesday, he boarded a plane to New York City to compete on Million Second Quiz. “I hadn’t heard anything from them for about a month and it came out of the blue. I had to force myself to stay calm to get the rest of the school day finished,” Adams said. Over the summer, the producer of the show contacted the state quiz bowl director, who sent an email to all of the coaches in the area. “On a whim I called the phone number and talked with one of the casting agents. She set me up on a second interview with a producer; I did a Skype interview with them so they could see my personality,” Adams said.
