ALUMNI ENRICHMENT The goal of the Alumni Enrichment Committee is to provide lifelong enrichment opportunities to alumni through events and programs.
CAES CHATS
When everything went virtual, the goal became to cover areas that provided college updates, timely research information and other topics CAES has to offer. CAES Chats became the avenue to reach people. CAES Chats are interactive online sessions between alumni, friends, UGA students, faculty and staff members - present and past. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with speakers. During the eight CAES Chats more than 435 people attended from 17 states. Some people attended more than one and are counted multiple times. CAES Chats recordings are available online at https://t.uga.edu/66q.
RAKESH SINGH CELEBRATION Rakesh Singh served as head of the Department of Food Science and Technology for 19 years, and in August 2020 he made the transition to return to the faculty. He will remain a professor in Food Science and Technology and will continue his ongoing research program. Forty people attended the virtual event to say thank you to Dr. Singh for his service and commitment to CAES.
Virtual backgrounds were designed and sent to participates before the event.

AG DAWG INSIDERS Ag Dawg Insiders began its pilot program in FY21. The purpose of this group is to create a community of alumni who feel like “insiders” with access to current CAES alumni initiatives and breaking news. This information is then shared by them on their social media channels, primarily. The program is also open to those who are not on social media. Information can also be shared via text, calling and email. Messaging and graphics are sent to Ag Dawg Insiders monthly with one to two focus areas to share. Insiders have the expectation to post or share CAES alumni content at least once per month.
“I love everything about UGA and CAES, and with this scholarship, my opportunities are limitless! Your kindness is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your generosity and for helping provide me with an amazing college experience.”

GOVERNANCE
BOARD MEETINGS
The goal of the Governance Committee is to recruit and develop a highly engaged board of directors that reflects the diversity of our CAES graduates. The committee also provides direction for the board’s effectiveness and continuing development. Each month the alumni association board meets via Zoom to discuss committee tasks and the work of the association.
ANNUAL MEETING The CAES Alumni Association Annual Meeting is a way to connect with other alumni and engage in the work of the association. This year’s annual meeting went virtual with more than 60 attendees. Annual meeting attendees were able to hear from Linda Glanton Early (BSA - Food Science, ’74) as she expanded on her Southscapes article about being the first Black female CAES graduate. Next, Amelia Payne (BSA - Biological Science, ’21) and Merritt Daniels McGowan (BSA - Biological Science, ’19) spoke about their UGA Mentor Program experience. Andrew Lovett (BSA - Agriscience and Environmental Systems, ’16) with Corteva Agriscience shared how they engaged with students through a virtual Ag Dawgs at Work panel as well as meeting with students one-on-one about internship and job opportunities. Finally, Caroline Lewallen (BSA - Agricultural Education, ’11) gave her presidential remarks on what it was like to lead during the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting ended with everyone calling the Dawgs.

STUDENT CONNECTIONS
GRADUATION
ORIENTATION 2.0
UGA MENTOR PROGRAM
The goal of the Student Connections Committee is to support and enhance the student experience on all three campuses (Athens, Griffin and Tifton).
Do you have one to two hours per month to make an impact on a student? The UGA Mentor Program is the perfect way to do just that! You will be able to share your experiences and provide feedback to a current student as they prepare for life after college. The program will allow a student to connect with you based on a profile you provide.
Become a mentor! Help us connect CAES students with Ag Dawgs. More information at mentor.uga.edu
Held each August and January, the CAES Office of Academic Affairs hosts CAES Orientation 2.0 dedicated to welcome freshmen and transfer students to the college. The CAES Alumni Association has representatives on hand to promote the association and upcoming events.
All CAES spring graduates received a special red envelope in the mail. The alumni association wanted them to know they “knocked our socks off” with custom socks, tech stickers and a letter welcoming them to the alumni association and congratulating them on their accomplishment. An Uga and Ag Dawg sign were donated by Justin Seibert (BSA ’02) of The Sign Bros. for students to have their picture made with. Fall graduates received a CAES picture frame in the mail.
AG DAWGS AT WORK This lunch and learn series brought students together with alumni panels to get a glimpse of how alumni ended up in their current roles. Corteva Agriscience partnered with the alumni association to host a virtual Ag Dawgs at Work. The panel focused on career opportunities and alumni advice. Following the panel, Andrew Lovett (BSA - Agriscience and Environmental Systems, ’16) a marketing development specialist, invited students to come and speak with him about internships and job opportunities at Corteva Agriscience.

AG DAWG KICKOFF Each year the UGA CAES Alumni Association hosts a kickoff event for students, faculty and staff to celebrate the start of another year. For 2020, a grab and go experience was offered to students. Ag Dawg alumni who work on campus helped to hand out bags to current students. Students were able to swing by Four Towers throughout two days and pick up an Ag Dawg bag, Ag Dawg Kickoff T-shirt and a few prepackaged snacks. More than 535 students stopped by to see the alumni association.
During Welcome Week at UGA Griffin, the alumni association provided Griffin Campus students with a grab and go Ag Dawg Kickoff experience similar to the one held in Athens.
UGA Tifton students received their welcome back to campus goodies to ring in the new academic year at Ag Dawg Kickoff grab and go.
“I am extremely thankful to be in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Science because the community is unlike anything I’ve seen before. I have been supported in so many ways from amazing people, professors and other students, and donors like you! I appreciate everything that you have done to support my dream.”

ANNUAL GIVING SUCCESS This fiscal year brought with it unique challenges to reach alumni virtually and the same was true in annual giving. Because of alumni and friends, nearly every fundraising goal that was set was reached!
Ag Dawg Kickoff was shifted to a grab and go experience, but donors stepped up to make sure the change was memorable for students. For the first time ever, we received the most gifts in one week - 157. Alumni and friends were excited to sponsor this student experience. Donors were able to give a t-shirt to a student and get one for themselves. They could also leave encouraging notes to students that were displayed throughout the event and on a card included in students’ Ag Swag bag.
“The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry” moved from only being played on the football field to include charitable giving. UGA CAES and Auburn University’s College of Agriculture went against each other to see which university would have the most donors during Beat Week. The dean from the school with the fewest donors had to wear the other school’s colors. Auburn edged out CAES in the total number of gifts. However, CAES received their most gifts in a week with 188. Interim Dean, Joe West, held his end of the bargain and wore blue and orange.
In April, CAES had the first ever giving day during UGA Giving Week. The previous record of most gifts in a single week was shattered with 322 gifts. Another goal for the week was to receive a gift from someone in each of the 50 states. CAES was the only college on campus to reach that goal! Completing the 50 states challenge unlocked $3,500 to the CAES Deans’ Promise Fund. The CAES Alumni Association Board also reached 100 percent giving participation during the week which provided a $1,000 bonus to the CAES Alumni Association Eterna fund. Part of the success of the week was the promotion of the Ag SwAG boxes. More than 160 Ag SwAG boxes sold out in 27 hours!
