Partner Rafael Novoa’s knowledge of the bilingual community and how to market to this fast growing segment of the population has proven invaluable to businesses targeting the Hispanic community for years. WHO MAKES THE BEST TAMALES IN PHOENIX ? Position your brand around a great Hispanic family tradition and get a jumpstart on sales during the holiday season! How it works: Fry’s customers will register for 4 weeks at the Hispanic density stores to participate in a contest to see who makes the best Tamales in Phoenix. The stores will be divided into 3 regions and 5 customers will be drawn from registration forms. Customers from each region will prepare their tamales to be judged at radio remotes outside of a Fry’s location. The 3 winners from each region will advance to the finals where they have to prepare their tamales from scratch at the Mercado. The 3 winners from the finals will split $2500 in cash and prizes.

T.R. OSBORNE, PARTNER Founder of award-winning retail advertising agency Team Media, T.R. brings over 20 years experience in radio, print, event marketing, and advertising to the partnership that is The Southpaw Group. In addition to guiding Team Media to a decade’s worth of innovation and success that culminated in eight National Gold Penguin Awards, the frozen food industry’s highest honor, T.R. has served as Executive Director of the Arizona Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association for eight years. He is also a board member of the Arizona Food Council, and has served as a Fiesta Bowl Committee member.
RAFAEL NOVOA, PARTNER Rafael’s career has led him from the highest level of professional athletics to the pinnacle of Hispanic marketing and now to The Southpaw Group. After an eight year baseball career that included two seasons at the major league level as a left-handed pitcher for the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers, Rafael began his marketing career in 2000 as Retail Marketing Director for the Hispanic Broadcasting Group. As founder of Novoa Marketing Solutions he focused on raising the level of marketing efforts for businesses in the Hispanic Community; setting a standard for bilingual marketing in Arizona that resonated with this fast growing demographic.
NICOLE GRAY, EVENT MANAGER As head of our event team Nicole directs a staff of some 20 team members and has constructed and overseen hundreds of events for the clients of The Southpaw Group. Currently serving as Event Liaison to The Arizona Lottery, Nicole’s events routinely set a standard in brand activation that allows our clients’ brands to hit the ground running.
BRIAN DENHAM, OPERATIONS MANAGER An experienced and proven event planner, Brian handled 80 national vendors and 450 sales managers while overseeing a $5 million annual budget for Reader’s Digest before bringing his talents to the Southpaw Group. A native of Douglas, AZ, Brian currently oversees on-site execution for The Southpaw Group’s Hispanic events.
BRIAN STIPANOVICH, PRINT OPERATIONS Brian oversees all of The Southpaw Group’s printing endeavors including digital copying, off-set printing, and large format graphics. A graduate of Arizona State University, Brian’s decade of experience in the printing industry makes him the perfect choice to execute this vital part of The Southpaw Group’s operations.
ROBERT RENTERIA, CREATIVE DIRECTOR Robert brings a wealth of real world experience in advertising design, campaign development, project management and interactive marketing strategy to his position with The Southpaw Group. He has previously held director positions with LPI Multimedia, Inc., publishers of Phoenix Woman, Arizona Homebuilder and New Homes Today, and Patrick Media Group, publishers of frontdoors newspaper. Robert’s vision and wealth of experience set the tone for the continued evolution of our print design, identity creation, and web design efforts.
CRAIG WALLACH, COPYWRITER A freelance copywriter, editor, and journalist with over 15 years of professional writing experience, Craig has written for a host of advertising agencies, internet search engine optimization companies, and print publications including The Arizona Republic, Phoenix New Times, and Biz AZ Magazine.
