Tennis lessons presents
The Southington Parks and Recreation Department will offer four sessions of instructional tennis lessons this summer for Southington residents aged 4 to 18 years. Each session meets Monday through Thursday for two weeks using Fridays as rain dates if necessary. Lessons will be held at the Southington High School tennis courts. A smaller, lightweight racquet will be provided for children ages 4 to 9. Session III will run July 30, 31, August 1 and 2; and Session IV will run August 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 16. Class times are as follows: Ages 4 to 6 meet from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.; ages 6 (advanced) and 7 meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.; ages 8 and 9 meet from 11 a.m. to noon; and ages 10-18 meet from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. There is a fee per session. Also offered is “Tennis – Match Play” for high school and middle school students (Southington residents only). These two-week programs are for experienced tennis players to play against each other in an organized setting. The department’s tennis instructor will provide guidance and any explanation in regards to the proper tennis etiquette, sportsmanship and rules. Session dates are the same as those listed above. High school students will play from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and middle school students will play from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. There is a fee per session. Class sizes are limited.
