Breakfast, Bible, Banter A new Bible study for men will be led by Rev. Ron Brown of First Congregational Church of Southington from 7 to 7:45 a.m. and will continue on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month if there is interest. The group will meet in Memorial Hall at the church for brief Bible study and banter. People should prepare for the first meeting by reading Mark 1:115. No previous bible study experience is necessary. Men of all ages are welcome.

Genevieve (DeMure) C h r i s tensen, 87, of Southington, died peacefully at J o h n Dempsey Hospital on July 18, 2012. Gen lived in Spring Lake Village for the past 17 years. Prior to that, she was a resident of Plainville for 47 years. She was the widow of William J. Christensen. Born in Torrington, on May 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Marie (Umbria) DeMure. Gen graduated from Torrington High School in June, 1942. She was a dental assistant to Dr. O.V. Cummings until 1948 and a parttime cashier at Warner Theater from 1942 to 1948. Married in 1948, she moved to Plainville where she worked in banking (Plainville Trust, Colonial Bank then Bank of Boston) from 1968 until she retired in 1986. Gen was past president of the Plainville Junior Women’s Club and the Guild of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville. She remained very active after retirement as a member of many committees at the Calendar House Senior Center in Southington and the Social Committee at Spring Lake Village. She was a member of AARP and Y Seniors, and she taught Dancercise. Her hobbies included cooking, baking and dancing. She was an ardent and loyal fan of both UCONN Women’s basketball and the Connecticut Sun. Gen is survived by her two daughters, Claudia D. Person and husband, Joseph, of Burlington and Leslie Ann Blanchette and husband, Ronald, of Plainville; three grandchildren, Jenna Person Grodzicki and husband, Shawn, of Burlington, Marla Person, of Berlin, and Gregory Person and wife, Jennifer Grund Person, of New Britain; two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Tanner Grodzicki, of Burlington; a
