The next statewide primary will be on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Citizens are reminded to register as either a Democrat or Republican if they wish to vote. June 4 - As part of her Summer Jobs Tour throughout Connecticut, Linda McMahon, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, visited landscaping company Winterberry Gardens in Southington, where she met with owner Scot Leavitt and key members of his management team to discuss the economy and concerns of small business owners. July 10 – Chris Murphy’s campaign for U.S. Senate raised more than $1.2 million in the second fundraising quarter of 2012, bringing the campaign’s fundraising total to over $5.45 million. The campaign will report over $3.1 million cash on hand. July 13 – State Rep. Joe Aresimowicz received a perfect rating from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, an environmental group. An annual environmental scorecard is kept to grade state lawmakers on how they vote on environmental legislation. This year’s scorecard was based on 15 bills during the 2012 legislative session.

July 13 – U.S. Senate candidate Susan Bysiewicz announced her campaign raised over $355,000 from April 1 to June 30 and about $2.25 million so far. July 14 – U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon joined volunteers on July 14 in a grassroots outreach effort called “Super Saturday.” They gathered at each of the campaign’s field offices across Connecticut with a goal of making 10,000 phone calls and knocking on 10,000 doors in one day. A total of 38,000 voters were reached. Aug. 14 – State Rep. Rob Sampson (R-80) will be named Legislator of the Year by The Connecticut Citizens Defense League, a Connecticut gun rights organization, in a special ceremony during the CCDL’s next meeting on Aug. 14 in Middletown.
