is in fact against the law for someone else to remove signs or anything without the property owner’s permission.)

Late Friday afternoon, the Villa Park Independent learned that police had been called to the 200 block of W. St. Charles Rd. on Monday, March 11 on a report of suspicious activity. According to the report, Police Chief Lay assigned an officer to go to two locations because the activity reportedly involved the upcoming election and the possible impersonation of a village employee. At about 1 p.m., the officer went to one business and met with an employee who stated that sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon, the suspect entered the property and advised the employee the suspect was “from the Village” and was making sure that the election signs displayed on the property had permission to be there. The employee explained that permission was not needed to post the signs. The suspect then claimed that there had been “complaints” about signs being posted without permission and that if this was to happen, people should call and report it. The suspect did not provide a name nor leave a number to call. The employee told police he had never seen the person before. The officer then went to another business in the 100 block of W. Home and spoke with the owner, who stated he had also been visited by someone on Monday, March 11 in the late morning. He had also been approached and asked if the election signs he had posted had permission to be there. The business owner stated that they did. Again the suspect provided no name, no company or business name, and no other identification. Upon returning to the station, the
