Under Nick Nester the Lake Cormorant program went from 0-12 in 2014 to 10 wins last season.

The number of touchdown passes Brandon Smith hauled in last season.

Todd Breland again had his club playing for a state championship last December. Following a 1-1 start the Golden Tornadoes would reel of 12 straight victories before facing West Point at Davis-Wade stadium. Laurel’s only regular season loss came at he hands of Hattiesburg. However, they would avenge that loss in the second round of the playoffs.

Replacing star pass catcher Brandon Smith will be difficult, but Ben Rohrbacher should stabilize the passing game. The structure is in place for the Gators to be dominant on the ground this season with tailback Brian Jackson and plenty of o-line talent coming back this season.

Breland’s program is usually centered around the upperclassmen and that leaves production to replace. With that said, plenty of talented returners are waiting in the wings on this year’s roster.
