MON 5 – SAT 10 DECEMBER Despite protesting his innocence, Andy is handed a double life sentence for the murder of his wife and her lover. At Shawshank he learns that no one can survive alone, and strikes up a friendship with prison fixer, Red. When Warden Stammas tries to bully him into submission, however, a plan is quietly hatched. This thrilling stage production is based on the 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption and the 1994 feature film starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and was nominated for seven Academy Awards. Paul Nicholls’ impressive TV career has barely seen him off our screens for 20 years: From Joe Wicks in EastEnders to D.S. Sam Casey in ITV’s Law and Order and more recently starring opposite Sheridan Smith in the acclaimed The C Word. Ben Onwukwe boasts a 30 year stage career including leading roles with The RSC and the Royal Court, and eleven years on TV as Recall McKenzie in London’s Burning. Jack Ellis is maybe ‘best hated’ for his portrayal of the villainous prison warden Jim Fenner in ITV’s Bad Girls, and as D.I. Tony Muddyman in Prime Suspect.

STORY QUEST HALF TERM PROJECT

In partnership with

This three-day story adventure at the Palace Theatre in February half term will bring books to life and encourage children to think about using them in creative and imaginative ways, to inspire new work. The project will begin with an introduction to a story on the first morning, followed by a series of exercises to build an idea on which the children’s own new work will rest. The form of the end product is entirely left to the group and may be a performance, a storytelling of fact or fiction, an installation, writings or some other form of work; the form will be decided by the group. There will be opportunity for all members of the group to develop new skills and ideas within the overall plan, and we may break into smaller groups to facilitate a multitude of ideas before bringing them together for a sharing with parents and carers on the final day. For ages 7–11; children should bring a packed lunch. COST £85.00 for all three days; £76.50 for siblings. Participants must commit to all three days.
