Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit song-writing team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation, with countless classics such as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Take Good Care Of My Baby, You’ve Got A Friend, So Far Away, It Might As Well Rain Until September, Up On The Roof, and The Locomotion.

PATRICIA RESNICK

TUE 28 JULY – SAT 1 AUGUST Direct from the West End, Dolly Parton’s rip-roaring West End musical is coming to Southend! Fresh from 5* reviews and sold-out houses in London’s West End, 9 to 5 the Musical tells the story of three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the women manage to reform their office - or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit? With an Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by the Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton, and a book by the iconic movie’s original screenwriter Patricia Resnick, this hilarious new production is about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business! Casting to be announced. Based on the 20th Century Fox Picture. Originally produced on Broadway by Robert 9T519_M_171 Southend Brochure_V1.indd 1 Greenblatt, April 2009. Please note: Age recommendation 12+. This production contains comic sexual references, light drug use and the occasional curse word. Dolly Parton will not be appearing live in this production.
